There are 7 married couples attending a party. Two identical door prizes are randomly awarded to two different people.
Answer the following questions. (Give your answers correct to three decimal places.) (a) What is the probability one prize goes to a man and one to a woman?
(b) What is the probability a married couple wins both of the prizes?
(c) John and Mary are one of the married couples at the party. If Mary wins a prize, what is the conditional probability that John will win the other prize?
Maria and Thomas are part of a group of 4 women and 4 men who will participate in a chess tournament. The 8 players will be randomly paired up into groups of two. (a) What is the probability that Maria and Thomas will be paired together?
(b) What is the probability that Maria will be paired with another woman?
(c) What is the probability that Maria will be paired with another woman and Thomas will be paired with another with a man?
(d) What is the probability that both Maria and Thomas are paired with a woman?
(d) If Mary does not win a prize, then what is the conditional probability that John will win one of the two prizes? 3/31/2011 9:39:05 AM |

If you are in fact a 19 y/o cheerleader, simply post a picture of yourself and you'll have every TWW math nerd offering to do the rest of your homework for your college career 3/31/2011 7:22:50 PM |

Help is when you post a question (or a hw problem) and tell us how much of it you have understood, what you are having difficulty with, and post any partial answers you have gotten so far.
This is simply do my hw for me.
I can post the answers, but how would that help you understand the material and then answer similar problems on the tests and exams? Heck, you aren't even asking for solutions (so you could see how the stuff works), just answers!3/31/2011 8:06:30 PM |

I am having a problem with the:
Maria and Thomas are part of a group of 10 women and 6 men who will participate in a chess tournament. The 16 players will be randomly paired up into groups of two. (a) What is the probability that Maria and Thomas will be paired together? - Why would it not work as 1/C(16,2)? I would have thought that there is only 1 possible way in which Maria and Thomas are paired up divided the number of all different possibilities of pairings. 3/31/2011 10:26:19 PM |

Consider that you actually have 8 pairings, not just 1; Maria will be paired with somebody and the probability that she'll be paired with Thomas is 1/15.
If they're always paired with the opposite sex, then the probability that Thomas will be paired with Maria is 1/10. 3/31/2011 11:45:22 PM |

True or false: posting a homework assignment, word for word, on the internet, ostensibly asking others to do your homework for you, is a violation of NCSU's policies regarding academic integrity. 4/3/2011 12:05:14 AM |
