the Pentastar is by far the best 6 cylinder Chrysler has ever made and the new Wranglers are selling very well.

Woman wants a car. I want to get rid of my V8.

Probably trading in my Jeep GC for a Dodge Journey because she HAS to have a 3rd row because we MIGHT have a 3rd kid.

I might just get her the Journey, tell her to not ask for another car till the wheels fall off of it and then get myself an old vehicle I can fuck around with.

Has anyone dealt with the Journey? The reviews aren't that hot for reliability but are pretty good on safety. We were also looking at the Kia Sorrento, but those things are expensive and I just can't get over that its a Kia.

We actually went and looked at the Journey today. I hate it.

So I'm just going to hold on to the jeep.

I like the concept of the ecodiesel GC, but she doesn't like the GC.

it occurs to me there aren't any satisfactory cars under 60k (used) out there. against my better judgement I'm considering a high dollar FD with an LS2. light, agile, reliable, fairly inexpensive running gear, good power to weight, comfortable, just not sure about the noise.

also considering buying something I won't be thrilled with but will enjoy until the new stingrays come in at 40k or less

^^Is there an WTA intercooler on that supercharger? B/c all things being equal, on a stock vehicle and using the standard sized pulley that supercharger only puts out around 215 whp on pump gas.

So Porsche 911s, used Cayman S's (and Boxsters), M3s and C6 Z06s aren't "satisfactory?

Oh and I love LSx FDs. Why do you say against your better judgement? Go for it!

Get a used 335is, put an LSD in it, and you are good to go. If you have more money get a used M3 or 911..

This is why I'm ignoring him.

Maybe he put an extra zero lol.

No good used cars under 6 k is much more accurate.

No good new cars under 60k could be said if you are a douche

But if you can't find a cool used car for 60 you are friggin blind.... Or just don't want a used car in the first place

Cool. Do you know if he has any other modifications? Even without an intercooler I would say that power figure is attainable with a header and full exhaust. But an otherwise stock car, not a chance.

Full exhaust. Didn't sound very good when he revved it. Bigger injectors. He said some other stuff, but I wasn't really paying close enough attention.

im 100% serious.

i can get a shitty japanese car with no soul that understeers and turns too many wheels or I can get one that's under powered. all of them have poor interiors and too much road noise, none of them look good save the evo, but that's a shitty mitsu, so pass.

i can get an overweight german that's very comfy, great power and feel but either goes into limp mode on track or is way too heavy and destroys consumables or I could get one that doesn't know what it wants to be and turns too many wheels and understeers. i could get a really focused german that has good power, grip, handling, but has a weak interior and a lot of road noise - this is fixed in newer models, those of which are >60k.

i can get an american car with amazing performance, gas mileage, and reliability but the ergo and interior is piss poor and unacceptable for my 30mi one way commute. other americans weigh entirely too much and drive like boats.

Quote :
"Oh and I love LSx FDs. Why do you say against your better judgement? Go for it!"

I say against my better judgement because the market is extremely narrow and it would be really hard to sell the car should I need or want to.

e90 m3 comes the closest to what I want but it's just not quite light and focused enough. a 997 911 would be perfect if i didn't have to drop a mint smack in the middle of its depreciation curve to get it

If I was going to drop 60k or less on a car:
Lol @ "if"

I would either get a cts-v wagon cause I like 4 doors and I like the mill under the hood and the whole 550hp wagon thing is cool.

I would get a 993 turbo and put a new stereo in it and love every inch of its not ergo blah blah blah short commings

Or I would buy a classic car put a fuel injected engine, new trans , new rear axle, good brakes new suspension and frame off restore it.... Ohh wait.... I'm halfway through doing exactly that lol.

But I still want a 993 turbo....

Buy a car that moves you if you have that kind of cash not one that just transports you quickly.

Lol
You could get a 355, all kinda of things... Or separate your desires like duke did and get a track car and something nice to dd.

Quote :

Ah, makes sense then. Does he have plans to make even more power? B/c the stock injectors can still easily handle 250 whp.

^^ I tried the cayman and while I liked the handling better than the 911, it was even louder due to the engine being closer. unfortunately the only example had aftermarket exhaust that made it (presumably) louder. I'll try another shortly. it seems i can get a higher mileage 997 for 35k or less. i might just deal with that for a year or 2.

I mean.. Yeah it depends on your expectations.

If you want an 8sec 1/4 mile, great handling and offroad capabilities in the same car with a comfortable ride and posh interior you might have some difficulties.

So you're not interested in any Cayman S because the one you drove was loud because it had an aftermarket exhaust.

the turbo with sport seats has a better interior and less road noise than a 996 c2 and a much better stereo to keep the remainder of the road noise out.

My turbo was actually registering around 72db @85mph today (with what appears to be power package or GT2 exhaust). It's very quiet and smooth, though it does have some harshness over sharp breaks in pavement in a way that say a BMW 5 series wouldn't. I think this car has the euro sport suspension package as well, I imagine the standard suspension would be comfier.

Anyway, point is, it's perfectly comfortable. It's also stupid fast. The 996 turbos have the full leather interior which is a pretty nice step up from the regular interior, which itself was already upgraded in 2000 and again in 2001/2002.

Motortrend is putting the top truck challenge up ok YouTube as it airs.

They did the towing test yesterday and an early bronco took second and a big bronco took first.
I thought with all the long wheel base stuff the broncos wouldn't have a chance.

^^^^ Eddie Smith lived right beside Lexington Municipal Golf Course; nice house (his daughter's house is in front of "the castle", Eddie Hinkle's place, and it's even nicer). I saw him in his red 80/90s Testarossa (sp?) but never got to see the Spyder, just heard rumors about it. I somewhat regret not going by there and asking him about it but I imagine he probably had a few too many people doing that.
