I feel like a decent percentage of new users (like myself) originally signed up wanting to utilize tww's chit chat section - a place that, unlike 4chan or reddit, that wasn't free for just anybody to use.

The problem is that people are chased off within their first 5 posts by people that can't restrain themselves from being "insert negative state of being here" to anybody and everybody they don't agree with. smc is an example of that - his band practices next to one of mine (or did, i haven't seen him recently) and one day we came face to face - he knew full well I had every right to 'insert graphic violence here" for all the crap he's said to / about me here...

Now maybe this is a mole hill / mountain thing, I'm guilty of it from time to time, but I would submit that tww has lost perspective and is entirely too tolerant of what I would term as 'get your ass kicked'(office space) comments, and that maybe the mods should reign it in some (not that you aren't doing a great job already) at least in the serious forums like The Garage (I will NEVER ask for advice there again), TSB ( I would LOVE to have a discourse on this or that but TSB is a viper pit that would have me popping prozac by the end of the day), and Chit chat (where you'll be ridiculed for posting a good thread AND have your sexual orientation questioned within 10 posts no matter what you are selling / wanting to buy). I'm just thinking out loud here and don't want anyone (except smc) to feel called out.
