First time took me about 10 minutes, last year it was closer to 20. People watch, don't think about what you're doing. I did 2-4-4-2, smashed together, both times. Figures the year I'm not able to run it there's a cool tdub group and it's not snowing or raining

it looks like it'll be pretty warm out this year. this supposed rain just needs to hold off. but it's early in the week so i am hopeful. although - i prefer to run when it's about 30 degrees outside.

Your socks should be fine unless it's torrentially pouring and the roads flood. I ran a 5K in Goldsboro a few years ago and it was torrentially pouring the entire time and the roads were really flooded. It's not so bad until the very end when you realize you're carrying an extra 5 pounds of water on you because everything has completely soaked through

I can't get to the spots until Friday to pick mine up.

Maybe I could leave work early and hit cameron village tomorrow, but I doubt it.

Ok here is what wilso and I are doing.

We'll be hitting up Cup A Joe around 6:30ish. After consumption of performance enhancing drugs, we'll regroup near the bell tower and I'll hand out some shirts.

If ya'll want to meet up as a team, it might be advisable to pick a specific landmark (instead of the belltower). After all, there will be nearly 8000 people floating around. Coliseum? Watauga? SCOOTERZ?

i got my number yesterday i went right at 4pm and couldn't believe how many people were already in line. but it moves quickly - i was in and out in 10 minutes.

for those who have run this race before - how early should i try to get there to park? i don't mind parking in the Dan Allen lot and walking and figured it might be easier to go there instead of trying to fight traffic on Cates. i was thinking if i got to the deck around 7:15 i should be okay - should i try to aim to get there at 7:00? i only live about 10 minutes from Dan Allen so it's not a huge deal if i have to leave a few minutes earlier than i planned.

So it sounds like there are a lot of novice runners participating in this. Which is pretty encouraging for me because I suck at running. Even our local celebs are getting into it:

Since no one offered any meeting ideas: I'm declaring the middle of Court of Carolinas. It is close to the tower, but should be far enough way to avoid ridiculously big crowds. So if you want to meet up with wilso and I and others, meet us there.

I need so legit pro strategies for consuming these donuts.

I'm a slow eater by nature.

1. Eat the biggest meal you possibly can today. Preferably n heads of cabbage where n is the most you can eat without dying.
2. Fast Saturday morning.
3. Smash 3 donuts together at a time and soak them in water.
4. ...
5. Profit

If that doesn't work, run really fucking fast.

I realized I didn't have any XLs, so I made an extra batch last night.

Protip: don't screw around with red when making those bleach shirts. Black is hands down the best looking/easiest.

^^^Sure! I think I have enough for everyone signed up, but a few are really faint.

I say cabbage because it is traditionally known as the best training food to eat before competitive eating. The main idea is you want to expand your stomach as much as possible, which is easiest with really low calorie, watery, fibery food. You could just drink a shitton of water (but please don't die, because that can happen).

As far as dinner... all that food is definitely going to be out of the stomach after 8 hours. How many hours does it take to digest food completely? The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.

I drank too much water one time when I was a kid. It was really painful... I gulped a number of large glasses of water one after the other. Don't remember how many but I was told "8 cups of water a day" was a good amount to drink and I thought I'd get it out of the way all at once. It was pretty uncomfortable for at least an hour.

really though, you don't need to expand your stomach to eat 12 doughnuts. You do if you're eating 63 hot dogs. Joey Chestnut trains with water, milk, and protein shakes.

I'm eating spaghetti tonight for dinner and a banana for breakfast tomorrow.
