How about his defense on Fair?? I've seen TJ played some amped up defense in spurts this year...but he was in that fucker's grill ALL. NIGHT. LONG. It was pretty impressive (had to have impressed NBA scouts as well).

Great season TJ. At least you won us one thing with the ACC Player of the Year. Gonna miss watching you play, best wolf pack player I have seen.

t.j. said he was going to graduate... although he didn't say when (could always graduate after his NBA career)

The NCAA practically requires them to say that.

Is Warren the best player in the last 20 years at State?

^^ damn close to it.

Also, one thing I've noticed about Warren is that he seems to be a very likeable player. Not that it matters to me what other teams' fans think of our players...but Warren seems to be generally liked/respected by most other fan bases in the conference.

nah, that's still Julius

he found a way to win

(and before you say "Jules had a better supporting cast" let's remember the Sweet16 roster was Bennerman-Atsur-Brackman-Evtimov. None of them would start for any ACC team in 2014)

i feel like those guys were pretty good. wasn't evtimov one of the best defenders in the ACC?

I dunno about evtimov being a great defender...he was slow and unatheltic. But he was good offensively. All those guys were solid.

Lol that Bennerman would not start on any ACC team. Every one of those guys could start for an ACC team. Granted it might be a BC or ND, but nonetheless.

^^Bennerman would be a God-send on this year's team. A guy who can shoot from deep, play great defense, and throw down monster jams.

That Sweet 16 team also had Tony Bethel and Ced Simmons. They were pretty solid.

tj warren is the only player on this year's team that would even see the court for that team.

In that last link posted, I find it funny that Rodney mentions UCONN as one of the possible "blue bloods" that Paige was referring to. What a coincidence......

Could have used anybody from that team this year. Atsur and Evtimov would would have really helped us this year with their distribution and shooting capabilities.

Evtimov was a great shooter but really seemed to lose most of his speed after his knee surgery. Can't imagine him being a huge defensive presence when he moved like P-Riv out there on the court.

Hard to really compare Hodge and Warren. Hodge played 4 years, Warren only 2. Warren had a better year this year than any single season Hodge had, but hard to compare what Hodge meant to the program and did on the court for 4 years vs. Warren for 2 years.

If Warren stays another year, and plays up to the level he did this season, then it'll be "Is Warren the best player at NC State since David Thompson?"

So we are just ignoring the first quarter of the ACC season again? Fuck it. If Parker/Paige weren't good it doesn't count.

Wow. 13 times. Definitely deserving of this list.

It's scary to think that if we don't win tonight, we probably saw TJ Warren in a wolfpack uniform for the last time.

^sad for sure, but not nearly as scary as the thought of losing 4/5 starters last year. I feel much better about how this team is positioned for next season than I did post-tourney last year. That being said, I can't think of a player in recent history I wanted to come back more than I do TJ to, and if when he decides to go pro it'll sting and he'll be sorely missed. Carries himself with humility and seems like a genuinely good dude... glad he is/was on our side!

it worries me that they've kept quiet about the injury. if they said he was better i would feel better but never saying anything makes me think its bad and they are trying to hide it.

I think he just landed funny, and he's fine. I haven't seen anyone even suggest he was actually injured.

absolutely do thing TJ is the best in 20 years to come through here - at least if you had to cherry pick only one season in any player's college career.

But he really needs to learn from Gottfried and work on his press conference conversational skills, he's kinda got that Greg-Oden-one-liner thing going here recently... being able to answer questions and offer media nuggets would boost his media perception even more for a higher draft position imho

I think the fact that he seems to give all the credit to his teammates in most answers works just fine. He might not have a broadcasting career, but he can worry about that later.

^^ This. It shows a certainly level of maturity to deflect and be humble when the media wants you to be selfish.

nba teams don't draft players based on media perception or press conference ability.
