Well then, Earl's arguments are thus transported to truth and verity by the shining lone example of Jarrett Jack.

Ty lawson and Raymond Felton both stayed 3 years and signifcantly improved their 3pt shot as a junior. They could have easily left as sophomores but wouldn't have the longevity and stardom they see today and thats just the one school i follow off the top of my head.

Its basically a similar story with most of the successful players in the nba that aren't physical freaks. If you are going to be a skilled player than refining your skills in college is the best bet. If you are going to be a freak who out-athletes his way over other players, then preserving your youthful years is the way to go.

Felton is a career 33% 3PT shooter in the NBA

meanwhile, Lawson's 3PT % has decreased every year he's been in the pros

if only the 3 point lines were the same in college and the NBA you might have a point

or if Warren played on loaded teams and won championships

thats not bad. its not great but its good enough to keep getting him significant playing time and shots 9 years later despite being an idiot on and off the court.

Having the threat of an outside shot is the point. It doesn't have to be a 3. If an NBA player can knock down a college 3, that is enough to keep the defense honest. Warren's just not going to be worth a clogged paint.

^^ dude's been in the league for nine straight years (and was only out of shape for one of them!), that's nothing to scoff at.

ESPN Insider on TJ.

Quote :
"I was also really impressed with North Carolina State's T.J. Warren. I've been a skeptic in the past. While he's clearly one of the three most gifted scorers in the draft (Jabari Parker and Doug McDermott are the other two), Warren's unorthodox game and lack of a legit 3-point shot have raised question marks for me.

Warren's measurement and athletic testing numbers in Chicago made me give him another look. He measured bigger and more athletic than I expected him to. His drill work was just so-so Thursday. He's not a great shooter from beyond the arc, and he's not the quickest or most explosive in drills.

But when the ball rolled out for 3-on-3 action? Holy ... Warren is so aggressive as a scorer and can get his shot off in multiple ways. You can't sit on him defensively. He just has too many moves, floaters, hesitations and ways to get that ball in the bucket. That explains why he shot nearly 76 percent at the rim this year and 44 percent in his 2-point jumpers. The guy can score.

His competitiveness in those game situations just shines through. He's hungry and he wants to dunk on everyone. I think the over obsession with athletic metrics and skills can hinder the obvious -- if you want a bucket-getter, Warren is as good as anyone in the draft. If he ever gets a better 3-point shot, he could easily be a 20-points-per-game scorer in the NBA. Given that scoring comes at a premium, I think we also have him too low -- maybe considerably too low on our draft board. Teams as high as Phoenix at No. 14, Atlanta at No. 15, the Bulls at No. 16 and the Celtics at No. 17 will be giving him long looks.

Has anyone seen the espn the magazine nba draft preview issue? Pj harriston gets a three page article starting on page 79 Tj gets basically a side bar on page 103 or some bull crap. I guess they wrote all of this before Tj got invited to the draft green room.

^TJ's draft stock is higher than Leslie's was after both his sophomore and junior year.

Can't imagine TJ dropping out of the first round. Esp. considering how well he did in the team workouts(apparently dominated in 1-on-1 and 3-on-3 workouts).

TJ is awesome. I don't really follow the NBA much, so whatever team gets TJ will be my new favorite team. Would be cool to see it be the Hornets, but really I just want whatever situation will be best for his NBA career.

The latest mock draft from Ford showed TJ dropping all the way to 27 or so for some reason, not sure why. Hopefully he goes in the lottery, I honestly think he'll have a better career than Doug McDermott.

E Man, you are right. TJ should've come back so he'd be a lottery pick next year. Too much talent in this years draft and Warren just isn't good enough to crack the lottery this year.

Oh. Wait. Never mind.

booyah. not the boldest prediction in the world, but a correct one at least.

Happy for him, although I would have prized a Warren Hornets or Bulls jersey.

It's easy when you don't already have an NBA team. Now I can just become a Suns fan. Might snag me a Warren Suns jersey, though I still need to get me a Wilson Seahawks jersey too.

Seems like a great fit for TJ though. I could definitely see him developing into the leading scorer for the Suns within a couple years or so.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft2014/story/_/id/11139035/2014-nba-draft-grades-every-team
Quote :
"PHOENIX SUNS | GRADE: B

Round 1: T.J. Warren (14), Tyler Ennis (18), Bogdan Bogdanovic (27)

Round 2: Alec Brown (50)

Analysis: The Suns addressed three big needs in the draft. They needed a small forward who can score the ball. Warren can do that. He's an incredible scorer who just has a nose for the hoop. They needed a back-up point guard and Ennis is as steady as they come. They also needed another 2-guard, and while I doubt Bogdanovic comes over right now, he's a terrific scorer who could play in the NBA someday.

What the Suns didn't add, and what I think they could use more of, is athleticism. Neither Warren, Ennis nor Bogdanovic are great athletes. All three of these players have the potential to be solid rotation players. Ennis has starter potential someday and Warren's ceiling may be even higher than that. But I'm not sure what they got here puts them into true contention in the West any time soon."
