while neither of them are sniffing Rakim's jock, I think this is actually a fair debate

i expect it to end in gun violence between NyM410, simonn and UJustWait84 versus Snewf and Dentaldamn

Comparing the 2 in general is tough, considering their styles and deliveries were completely different. Much like any other comparison you could try to make between East Coast and West Coast rappers of the time period.

Pac was the best West Coast rapper and Biggie was the best East Coast rapper of their time. Picking the best overall would be a matter of personal preference.

Wouldn't go that far....

But it's kinda like the skills vs the "real talk factor"

PAC was real talk, wasn't about skills; biggie was kind of a skills guy

Both could weave a story, biggies skill in my opinion isn't enough to overcome pacs kickin game and flowing through emotion.

I honestly couldn't put 1 above the other, it just depends on my mood. If I need to get some serious work done, I listen to Pac. If I am just looking to lay back and chill, I listen to Biggie.

Hit Em Up is the only battle rap that he released. It was raw, sure. But you put Biggie and Tupac together in a freestyle battle and Biggie will murder him. Tupac could sling rhymes together but a lot of the time it was just abstract ghetto statements. Perfect example - the "where brooklyn at" video.

^^^ first of all, we are talking about battling. The video you posted is Biggie "freestyling" some shit that he probably had written for months.

i'm referring to freestyling. if tupac can't even freestyle when it ISN'T a battle rap then....

i think tupac's songs were all far greater than anything biggie did, other than maybe juicy and one or two others. but in terms of battle rapping or freestyling, tupac was just not good. his talent was writing together coherent stories in his rhymes. i mean he was a damn poet and went to schools for ballet and acting.

biggie could stand in front of you and cut you down just from rhyming off the top of his head and he could do it for quite a long time. it would be raw, angry AND make sense. tupac was not that type of battle rapper.

Okay, so all that means (valid point) is that they both didn't freestyle at all in that video. So what evidence do we have of them freestyling/battle rapping. Please present. Tupac was not a good battle rapper. Hit Em Up is the only thing he had (and it was damn good).
