Lexington is Piedmont style but that is typically also called western style.

I think rjrumfel may be talking about mountain/appalachian (west of hickory/stateville) style which is sometimes called western style and it's more like tennessee style barbecue

(this is a silly and needless distinction though because just eat eastern style since it's obviously superior)

^^I agree with your assessment of Gaston Co, with the exception of Tony's ice cream.

There are better ice creams out there, but they make a superior milkshake.

And I just don't agree about Lexington BBQ being western. My version of western is not Lexington. Like I said, western to me is smoked bbq with sauce that has the consistency of ketchup.

But it doesn't matter. All BBQ is good, except the crap with mayo sauce or mustard sauce.
