Sons of the Sea - Come Together reminds me of Bobby Brown's On Our Own

For any of y'all who liked Soul Coughing back in the day (or still do), Mike Doughty put out a disc (back in September, I know I'm late) with re-recordings of 13 Soul Coughing tracks the way he intended them to sound before his bandmates added to/changed them. Makes an interesting counterpoint to the originals, and several of them are (in my opinion) better than the SC versions.

I can't get into "Super Bon Bon" without its original bass grove though.

"Baby" on MMLP2 is some of the best lyrical rhyming you will hear. The chorus is corny, but the rest of the song is great

I'll have to give this album a few more listens before I can develop a full opinion, but so far this is the best album he's put out since The Eminem Show

way late on this but what am i not getting about this CHVRCHES record? I've listened to it a couple times and don't understand why anyone made a big deal out of it.

It was certainly over-hyped but at the same time I still really enjoy it.

latest Mansions album out today. Really enjoying what I am hearing so far. It's a little grittier but still paired with his great songwriting. Also got Foxing's debut LP in queue after I've spun this Mansions a few times through.

just dropping in to remind everyone talking about hip hop about El-P.

all of you guys are probably going, "fuck, totally forgot about El-P" right now.

there isn't a hip hop list he shouldn't be on.

finally got around to this mutual benefit album and really like it. it would have fit very nicely on my mid-aughts ipod.

New Mansions is excellent. Nothing flashy about it but it is so easy to listen to on repeat. Gritty and loud and just a great rock record. Easily in my top 5 if not higher now for the year.

That Foxing album really impressed me too. Mix of American Football/Bon Iver/Owen.
