Why were they allowed to perform at the main stage of Outside Lands?

Because someone has to play at 2:50.

They were sandwiched between Fishbone and Hall & Oates. Not exactly prime real estate for a pop band in 2013.

Anyway, they were on the same lineup line as Dawes & Tallest Man on Earth. Seems about right.

this band The Wild Feathers sounds like a mashup of so many artists across various genres. I pick up Black Crowes, Tom Petty, David Gray, tinges of 70s rock, and a few others and that's through one quick listen.

Truth. No ID

Kendrick is becoming a king in front of us. which should be easy in today mainstream rap game.

This Washed Out album sounds like Washed Out, but a little less floaty and more melody-oriented. If you like Washed Out, you'll like it.

I plan to check it out but I'll hold out to preview it before buying it. I liked Life of Leisure (didn't love, just liked), but the following full length was a little "meh" to me. I think they just don't have enough to capture me for a full length.

"It All Feels Right" by Washed Out is one of my favorite songs of the year

and Good Kid/MAAD City is better than anything Jay(no hyphen)Z has ever done

I'm still mad I wasted 10 minutes watching that Picasso Baby "art film"

just listened through. not bad. it's about on par with other stuff from him. I like it but don't love it. Will probably purchase still. And I agree that Great Escape might be my favorite on the album.

Also, I think you ^ might really enjoy that Candy Claws album I posted about though. I could be way off of course but just mentioning it again. The reason I say that, is even though they are very different in a many ways, that Candy Claws album is kind of occupying the slot in my album rotation right now that this Washed Out album would be fighting for.

I'm in this camp as well. I like Kendrick Lamar and I enjoyed good kid maad city as well as Section 80. But I don't see him "becoming a king". He's one of the best mainstream guys right now...there's really not a ton of competition though.

the game is weak. ( I actually like Wale)

I just thought no one from this class of rappers would pull off a "Piggy Bank" verse.

and 50 did his before he went mainstream.

"The band’s guitarist Matt Pike took time out from rehab (but not the rehab you’re thinking), jamming for a new album for Sleep and his work as frontman for stoner rock band High On Fire to chat to Beat about everything Sleep."

15 previously unreleased The Mars Volta demos

http://www.mediafire.com/download/ilqfea53mp0bxp3/D+TMV+MX.zip

Definitely some good stuff in there (if you already like their work). Too bad they never did anything with it.

also, following up on the Mars Volta stuff I posted earlier: I took 7 of the more fleshed out tracks, cut them some and put them in an order to try and flow as an EP.

never been a huge jayz fan but this man is an ARTIST

[Edited on August 18, 2013 at 1:15 PM. Reason : i finally figured out how to listen to magna cartahg and it is actually good]

kendrick lamar calling out everyone for content is like if china came out and called the world out for human rights and were like " we dont know about yall but its human rights for everybody from now on" hes big enough that you can't ignore him but hes nowhere near good enough to be talking about the whole game

[Edited on August 18, 2013 at 1:22 PM. Reason : hes better than wale but his lyrics are certainly not. ]

ha. Pitchfork gave TWIABP a 7.8. It's one of my top 3 records of the year so far, but 1) I didn't think Pitchfork would even review it and 2) I figured they would hate it if they did.

However, the review is pretty much spot-on with how I feel about it.

the 2nd new Dismemberment Plan song is decent and a grower just like the last song. Really interested to see how the whole album sounds.
