Pointless, it goes way further than DWS or the DNC. Here's an email where they refer to the RI Gov as "one of ours" whatever the fuck that means, regarding the RI polling location issues.

https://wikileaks.org/dnc-emails/emailid/5750

goddamn this is only the first day. i love it.

It would be a start though. And it would put all the other fuckwads on notice that they aren't untouchable.

I really hope Obama gets asked some hard questions about this.

Wonder how much Tim Kaine being the head of the DNC in his career will get mentioned in relationship to this story.

Yeah, I kind of agree, but I don't think she's done herself any real favors with this pick. She needs to do more to bring in some of the Bernie folks. Kaine does nothing to help her with the Bernie folks who might drift over to Trump. This DNC email leak is going to piss those people off even more and she's made no attempt to mollify them.

Kaine and Hillary really allow Trump to paint them as a ticket that was pro-TPP, pro-NAFTA, etc. and there's not a hell of a lot they can say or do to refute that based on their record. If she had picked someone like Elizabeth Warren or a someone like that to throw a bone to the left wing of the party it would have been beneficial.

Ultimately this VP pick really only does one thing for her and that's probably lock up Virginia, which honestly, she probably had anyway.

There is something deliciously ironic about the same people demonizing Hillary's email use now gleefully cheering Russian hackers. Actually ironic is the wrong word, it's more like blatant hypocrisy.

incredible false equivalence

especially considering Hillary and the DNC's own ineptitude is the reason Russians have their emails in the first place

do you have any thoughts on the contents?

^^That rank and file DNCers preferred a 30 year champion of the party and progressive causes over someone who didn't even call himself a Democrat until the start of his campaign? Especially after it was clear he had lost yet continued with personal attacks against Hillary? No surprises there.

Every time the DNC/Hillary camp is caught in a lie, supporters default to "well of course that's what they were doing", after previously denying it. Every time. You're supporting a bunch of liars. How can you believe HRC will do anything she says she'll do?

Also 30 year champion of progressive causes? You cant honestly believe that, lol.

No, of course not. They're separate cases. You tied them together.

I'm sorry, what lie have they been caught in here? These are private conversations, not public endorsements of one candidate over another. Again, most of this came after it was obvious Bernie had no path to victory, and people were pissed off that he was behaving like a Trump surrogate.

I don't think so. She was probably damned any which way on this pick. She tries to appeal to the Bernie crowd, she's pandering. She picks a moderate like Kaine, she's playing it too safe. At least Kaine might help with Virginia, which is purple-ish.

Does Cory Booker seem like a god damn fool to you?

No. He's smart, and he's young. You don't want to hitch your wagon to Hillary's lackluster star in his position. Plus, the math with his Senate terms doesn't work for it.

If he leaves the Senate to be VP now, he doesn't even complete one term. Then he's gotta wait 8 years anyway, shackled to a very unpopular ticket leader. And VP isn't exactly a stepping stone to the big seat anymore. George HW Bush might have pulled that trick, but he was riding the Reagan wave. Other than him, who was the last guy to go straight from VP to elected P? Taft? No, thank you.

But if Booker finishes his term, well, first, good on him. Makes him look like a dutiful public servant rather than a political power whore. God forbid Trump wins in 2016, Booker can wrap up his first term and start firing up a 2020 campaign. More likely event, Clinton wins, Booker does another term which will end in 2026 -- close enough to the election that he can start running without pissing anybody off.

No matter what happens in 2020, that's good for him. If Clinton wins a second term somehow, I don't think Kaine is gonna have the force of personality to cruise right on to the nomination. And if a Republican unseats her (which, prematurely I know, seems more likely), so much the better -- now you're facing off against whatever dipshit mediocrity the GOP produced in a desperate effort to forget about this election. Unless Booker gets caught with his hand inside a little boy, he's a shoe-in. Two-term Senator, beloved mayor, known nationwide, great narrative: a blacker, more experienced Obama.

Tim Kaine opening up his first VP speech in Spanish plays right into this. It may be that Hillary chose a running mate based heavily on the person being bilingual. I guess they were so impressed with the black turnout in 2008 that they wanted to try to repeat that success with the Hispanic vote in 2016. The Republicans at least tried to pander to that demographic with actual Hispanic candidates in Rubio and Cruz.

Some of the leaked emails included photos of donation checks. I hope the DNC had the courtesy to notify these people that they need to take steps to eliminate fraud.

I now know for certain that you don't know how English works; my comment never remotely mentioned anything about a "brand". I pointed out how the VP pick was in lockstep with their bullet point #5, and that their third objective appears to be heavily influenced by the effectiveness of black voter turnout in 2008. I even specifically gave an example of how the RNC is doing the same thing with their backing of Rubio, Jeb Bush, and to a lesser extend, Ted Cruz.

People should start calling these what they really are, e-mails stolen by an agency of the Russian government in an operation intended to influence the outcome of a Presidential election in favor of their preferred candidate, Donald J. Trump. They are not "leaks".

Reports are that even with the email leak she still didn't want to step down and apparently wouldn't resign until the President talked to her.

I said this recently about Debbie Wasserman Schultz:

Quote :
"Debbie will be rewarded handsomely for playing ball by Hillary and company. Debbie announced loud and clear that she's willing to play ball. Her political stock is rising, not falling."

http://www.brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=634409&page=10#16344216

I stand by that statement. Wasserman Shultz will be taken care of by the Clinton campaign for the very reasons that progressives are upset with her. SHE SCRATCHED HILLARY'S BACK. Now its time for Hillary to return the favor. This is Washington politics in a nutshell.

It only seems "crazy" or "dumb" if you make the assumption that political party insiders are neutral observers who are behaving as honest brokers in the interests of their constituents.

THEY ARE NOT. They are politicking for their own career advancement. They don't give a flying fuck about you or your cute little progressive ideas. That's the cold hard truth. Progressive Democrats seem to be having a harder time accepting this truth because they are still deluded into thinking that they are the "party of the people." But they aren't. They haven't been for quite some time.

People who identify as her supporters aren't going to be the ones to win/lose the election, those have their mind made up and it isn't changing just like the Trump supporters. Everyone else is where it will be won or lost so some big bombshell could definitely sway things.

There's really only one viable explanation for Hillary Clinton bringing on a disgraced DNC chair to her campaign: DWS has dirt on her. She knows something that can bring down the whole campaign, and most likely, put Clinton in jail. Hillary Clinton may be tone deaf, but I don't think it's possible for her to have brought on DWS without understanding the consequences.
