From about 14 months ago. Called the bank ad they said they don't take any over 6 months old. Called my old employer and he said he would talk to the lady who does payroll. He said to call him tomorrow and he will have an answer for me. The guy I used to work for is a total scumbag and I'm sure I'm going to get some BS from him. Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience dealing with something like this, and can provide some insight. Thanks. 5/6/2013 1:58:55 PM |

Not paying you for your work is a federal crime. Threaten to lawyer up if they don't redraft the check. 5/6/2013 2:00:51 PM |

I mean I figured that would be my most extreme course of action. But would it really be worth it for a $200 check? 5/6/2013 2:02:00 PM |

Most checks have an expiration date if they aren't deposited.
http://smallbusiness.chron.com/payroll-checks-expire-13791.html
Quote : | "Payroll checks -- like any other uncertified bank draft -- are valid for a certain period of time from their date of issuance. This period is governed under each state's implementation of the Uniform Commercial Code. Although the precise window of opportunity can vary by state, in general, a payroll check is good for up to six months after it was issued." |

Just drop it in an ATM and see what happens. They probably won't even check. 5/6/2013 2:28:59 PM |

Move on with your life. You shouldn't still be mad at a boss from a year ago.

Bad idea. Your bank will deposit the money into your account, but when the issuing bank rejects the check the money will be removed and they'll probably put a charge on your account. My credit union charges a $10 fee for rejected checks which seems like a dick move IMO.
They owe you the money. Check here to see if it has been posted: https://www.nctreasurer.com/Claim-Your-Cash/Claim-Your-NC_Cash/Pages/default.aspx
If not, contact them and ask them to reissue the check. A debt isn't considered paid when the check is cut; it is considered paid when the check is successfully deposited. They have a legal obligation to pay you what is owed even if it has been 2 years.5/16/2013 11:24:59 AM |
