Canada to Pittsburgh (and I'm not talking about the flight).

Who will the new OC be?

Why lock it? Yeah Jaybee normally trolls, but might as well move the discussion on next season's train wreck to its own thread. 6-6 is probably what we are looking at IF we can beat ECU. Best case scenario is 8-4. 5-6 potential top-25 teams on the schedule (Clemson, Fsu, UL, ND, UNC, Miami).

My prediction: 5-7, DD gets let go after loss to UNC. We make another disastrous head coaching hire in Dec, many players transfer, and repeat the cycle in 4 years when we fire DDs replacement.

^doesn't seem unreasonable at all...would hope that we steal one out of Miami, @UL, @UNC. i'd expect us to be underdogs in those games. that's a way too early guess, but it seems like a relatively safe guess. it'd be great to finally win a game under DD in which we weren't favored to win.

Yeah, but if we steal one of those and get an atypical-for-DD win, then we'll probably have a loss to a team we're supposed to beat. @ECU is probably the most likely but it could also be BC or @ Syracuse.

We have the goofiest looking staff in the NCAA. Man boobs DD and Best Buy Geek Squad Drinkwitz.

Can't argue with the hire other than maybe questioning how well he will do recruiting. Came from Malzahn's staff and the jury is still out a bit on him. I know a few Auburn fans who are ready to kick old Gus to the curb.

Someone tell me how Boise St's offense did in 2014. I need to know if he's riding updrafts or if he had any real impact.

Yeah I was going to mention ^ that too.

True freshman qb and top-15 offense is impressive on paper. Haven't looked at Boise's schedule last season, but I remember them butt raping UVA so consider me impressed. Hope he can recruit though.

^^ saw a few folks on twitter commenting that he was regarded as a strong recruiter...but that might all just be folks being optimistic in the moment. guess time will tell. but on the surface, this seems like a solid hire with a lotta promise. i'm pleased.

^^yeah i thought about that too...he has no apparent ties to the region. but a good recruiter is a good recruiter wherever he is (assuming this guy's a good recruiter).

will he be coaching the QBs as well? iirc, Canada coached QBs too.

Canada was successful this year despite extreme adversity. You can't argue with the facts. People need to accept the fact that we had the #22 offense in the nation this year despite losing our best 2 players.

^^ I imagine that our stats were inflated because of the weak OCC schedule. When we were in ACC play it looked like we had no where near a top-25 offense.

Man I swear some of you guys are dumb. Its one thing to not know how offensive efficiency is calculated but i've posted over and over about how its adjusted for strength of schedule so if you don't get it by now, you are just that dense.

and then yrey takes it a step further and says we didn't look like a good offense against acc teams when we scored at will against the nation's #2 and #3 defense (BC and Clemson). Sure, we had bad games but so does everyone and it all balanced out to us dropping to #23 after the bowl.

"Team efficiencies are based on the point contributions of each unit to the team's scoring margin, on a per-play basis. The values are adjusted for strength of schedule and down-weighted for "garbage time" (based on win probability). The scale goes from 0 to 100; higher numbers are better and the average is roughly 50 for all categories. Efficiencies update daily during the season"

Whose the troll now?

^^^ Try getting a life instead of posting shitty charts that I never saw and have no desire to. Lets see, scoring at will against BC means 24 points. It gets better, our so called
firepower offense amassed a whopping 13 points against VT and Louisville. but, but, that no huddle #22 offense tho.

So you have no interest in being objective and considering facts (by acknowledging a widely accepted, standardized system of offensive rankings) when evaluating our offensive performance? got it.

Is your entire analysis based on 1 game? 2 games?

i mean, only 2 teams scored more than 24 vs them all year. so "scoring at will" isn't the best phrase...but we definitely did what most teams couldn't do vs their stout D. Notre Dame mustered 19 and FSU 14 vs their D.

MJ Salahuddin and Kenton Gibbs are no longer on the roster...not sure about Gibbs, but it's no surprise MJ isn't. he tore his ACL for the 2nd time before the bowl game, so his career is likely over.

http://www.backingthepack.com/2016/1/25/10825934/salahuddin-gibbs-no-longer-on-nc-state-football-roster

this article says Gibbs is on "medical hardship scholarship" so i assume that means he suffered a major injury, but no idea what it is.

yeah I think those medical hardships actually got announced 2-3 weeks ago (or at least that's when I remember seeing it on PP). Gibbs tore his achilles a couple years ago and apparently could never get healed.
