Kid is starting to warm up. 30 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds against Loyola.

Kid was insane today. He finished with such finesse on every fast break.

Everyone bagging on him for a slow start in the first 2 games can eat a dick. Dude is an elite offensive talent. Just needs to learn how to guard someone and put more effort on defense

if he scores 20ppg and gives up 15 ppg and leaves after one year, he doesn't deserve any appreciation.

Dude doesnt play d for crap. He literally left his man wide open to go scrape at the ball on another player who was already being guarded. His man hit the wide open 3 seconds later. He just gives up on defense as well...so many times already ive seen him just kinda standing around. Though you could say that about the entire team...whole group of ball watchers

Game seems like it's slowing down to Smith. He's not forcing things as much, and he's figuring out nobody can stop him when he gets going downhill to the basket.

The defensive problems isn't a lack of effort on Smith's part -- or really anyone's part. It's lack of communication. Teams are killing us on the pick and roll because our help defense is bad right. Guys don't know what the hell they're doing. Luckily we can fix that (somewhat).

I agree with the others. At this point in his career to make those types of mistakes? A bit ridiculous if you ask me. I mean, an incoming freshman only having played a game I expect those types of mistakes, but not from a guy who has been around as long as he has 6-7 games into his career.

^^^i know what youre thinking, but it wasnt a trap or a double team. It was a really dumb chance he took. But hes shown a tendency to do that on defense so far. Hes not terry henderson bad at defense, but hes not far off.

Offensively hes on another level though

Referred to the coach as simply "Gottfried" on the post-game show. I laughed then cringed.

Agreed. My defensive expectations of a freshman who has played 6-7 games are a world's away from those of a freshman who has only played one game. YOUGE experience gap there.

Was excited to see an article about him on the front page of the NCAAM section of ESPN, and although positive appears to be that he is doing great at NC State and nobody is caring or noticing. Not the best press to convince others to come here, but I guess good that ESPN is putting out something on NC State/Smith.

IMO, DSJr is a talented basketball player. He dribbles, passes, rebounds, and scores points in good ways.

hodge is great and everything...but yeah, his triple double was vs NCA&T. DSJ's is more impressive...it was a top 25 opponent.

Much appreciation for a solid game yesterday. He should have had like 8 more assists except the others can't dunk it and freeze when he gets them the ball right under the basket. Only bad thing is please keep working on free throws.

Need to keep him happy so he doesn't transfer along with Kapita, and the tall white guy.
