Not that its illegal to have multiple threads, but despite the "chit chat" location this thread kinda has that content: https://brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=651908&page=3
But maybe a TSB thread could get deeper 4/21/2022 12:27:37 PM

Musk is running some long con
But if democrats were smart (they aren’t and probably won’t learn in time)
They would lean into the fact that musk and bezos are attacking them, and bolster grassroots people like small.
Democrats need to ditch the geriatrics, put young people in power, and nurture the populist aspects of their platform. 5/18/2022 11:30:18 PM

Leaning into it is a great point. It would convince me. I know these billionaires have their fans, but I’d bet there is more skepticism to tap into.
But I’m def trying to figure out what he’s trying to accomplish with this Twitter fiasco. I don’t give a damn about Musk or Twitter as individual entities, but these antics that Musk is pulling seem like a symptom of the gross inequality in our economic and contract law systems. I’m not an expert, but things like: -seems like the financing is still questionable, a poor person would have been charged with fraud already. -Part of the reason the financing is wonky is at least some of the collateral is based on unrealized gains. Financing via equities is def the playground of the ultra wealthy. -seems like the contract is airtight, it requires $1billion payment if either side backs out, but oh wait, Musk is a billionaire that can hire an army of lawyers to renegotiate anything. Contracts mean nothing to the ultra wealthy when I can’t even break a lease for a shitty college apartment. -seems like the contract is airtight, there is no due diligence period and the price was agreed upon, but oh wait, Musk is a billionaire and is now concerned about bots, his army of lawyers will try to renegotiate the price. -another reason the financing is questionable is it’s possible there was never really intent to buy, it’s just a play to trash Twitter or manipulate stock prices or whatever. This is also fraud but can you imagine being some medium to low level Twitter employee? Some billionaire is just “attacking” your company and possibly risking your livelihood, and for what? To own the libs? So a billionaire can add to his Smaug hoard?
We live in fucked up times. 5/19/2022 7:04:46 AM

Quote : | "Elon Musk is really doing an incredible job educating the public about how capitalists end up aligning with fascists to maintain their wealth and limit the power of the working classes. When given the choice between their workers having a union and paying more in taxes OR supporting authoritarianism, many American oligarchs will choose tyranny to protect their profits. Yesterday, Musk went to Brazil to meet with Trump ally Jair Bolsonaro.
Bolsonaro, who defends Brazil’s military dictatorship, says Musk buying Twitter is a “breath of hope.”

Bolsonaro sucks, but is it now correct to call Brazil a military dictatorship? I wasn't aware we'd crossed that threshold. There's an upcoming election where their former President Lula who was jailed for corruption is trying to retake the presidency.
