yeah that is a pretty reasonable lunch... good variety, not heavy, cheap

i'd probably opt for a small salad instead of the sweet. or a pickle

fruit, sandwich, salad, drink

i'd probably eat the yogurt before lunch

damn, that sucks h8r

I have a 25 min commute for one job, 45 for another, but traffic is not really an issue since 264 is always wide open. at least until zebulon/wendell turns into durham

I don't think I've ever had that short of a commute. I would thank my lucky stars for 15 minutes. My commute was 55 minutes, then went up to 1 hour 20 minutes, now it's down to 40 minutes. The downside of living in a different town than you work.

I basically moved to where I live for the location / short commute

But the owner just bought a new building in north Raleigh, we were renting the old building.

I don't want to move but I hate spending so much time in the car unless it's somewhere I want to go.

/bitching

he could have bought something in Cary, but nooooooooooooo

My commute is usually 30-40 minutes, without traffic. Luckily I can WFH 2 days/week and stop at the gym in the afternoons.

FYI, if you are trying to convince your boss to let you work from home, tell him it's good for your health:
Quote :
"A new study finds that, in addition to being a real downer, long commutes are related to bad health. People who commute long distances to work were less fit, weighed more, were less physically active and had higher blood pressure"

A real lunch is at least 8 ounces of meat and up to two side items. Or 1 lb+ of meat sans sides.

My commute is 30 minutes. My commute at my last job could be well over an hour. But I didn't mind that nearly as much as my current commute because I could sleep on the train. I don't think sleeping while driving would work out as well for me.

My current commute is 8 minutes and I too am late/almost late every day. I even come in at 9am now

---

I don't think "Manage several important development contracts and work miracles on the side on demand within a week" was in my job description, but at least I was able to tell a boss and hopefully get some stuff shifted around now.

I currently drive 15 minutes. I'm about to move to one of either 3 places that are all walking/bike riding distance.

The only problem is that I do have to drive for work/meetings at least 2x a week.

Motherfucker Some asshole apparently decided to open up a spreadsheet I've been compiling for the last few weeks and delete the column with all the email addresses. Why would someone do that?!?!?!

^Sux. I hate when people get into my spreadsheets. I keep everything in PW protected folders now.

I drive 30-40 to work depending on traffic. I'm cool with it though, I'd rather live where I play than have to make that drive to hang out with my friends

Yeah unfortunately this spreadsheet needs to be public otherwise I wouldn't let people near it.

^That's what I thought at first but the person fessed up to deleting it. "I thought I was just copying the column!"

ugh yeah guess I've learned my lesson to keep a copy on my C drive. Thankfully I can ask our IT department to dig up a backed up copy from the server for me. At first I was thinking I was going to have to retrieve all those emails from our crappy application system which took me hours the first time I did it.

We have a woman 2 cubes down from me that goes crazy spraying Lysol if she smells something she doesn't like (someone's lunch from the microwave, or whatever).

Usually the Lysol ends up stinking worse than the original odor.

To print two-to-a-page or back-to-front to converse paper/copies, I have to click multiple times through the advanced printer options rather than using the basic print screen

you haven't been paying attention

Fridays, especially the end of the quarter & the year are super crazy around here in TV land

And this person is a she...and she doesn't use her vacation time and then has to use it up at the end of the year. One of us has to be here, so she always takes off the holidays because she needs to be with her family, but I don't apparently.

I will continue to roll my eyes about this

Having moved recently, my commute to my full-time job has gone from a 25 minute, 16 mile trip to a 15 minute, ~5 mile trip. Win there. However, my commute to my part-time job has gone from a 10 minute, 6 mile trip to a 30 minute, 25 mile trip. Fail.

*Yes, the logical thing to do would be to find a part-time job closer to my new residence. However, given that I'm looking to move out of state as soon as I find a suitable full-time job, not really something I want to do currently.

Smath, I think it'd be like one of your fellow teachers taking off every Friday. We'd all love Fridays off, but it gets to be annoying if someone consistently takes them and leaves the work for others.

again, i wouldn't care if they did that. it's not like I have to go teach their class... they would get a sub. If I were that teacher's supervisor, then I might have a problem if they weren't getting their shit done, but that's not the situation we are discussing.

I DO HER WORK WHEN SHE'S NOT HERE...and we do double work on Thursdays & Fridays because we have to have everything for the tv station set to run for the weekends when we're not here.

so yes it's annoying when it's every damn week...I'd be less annoyed if it were Mondays because the workload isn't as crazy

[Edited on June 8, 2012 at 10:42 AM. Reason : the manager doesn't give a shit until the revenue stream slows down..then he's all WTF]

I'd imagine that your boss is smart enough to only let so many people leave since the "show must go on". Sounds like she's being smart enough to pick the dates she wants so she can get them first. Don't hate since she's getting first dibs. Wouldn't be any different than if you locked in certain dates and she found that she can't take off since you're already planning to be away. Aside from that, she has every right to pick when she wants to be off as long as the boss allows it.

Tired of babysitting grown ass folks at my job! When I tell you to do something ONE TIME, that should be the ONLY TIME I have to tell you. And don't ask me for your break or lunch! I'll send you when it's time for you to go!

Well due to an unexpected doctor's appointment yesterday, today ended up being fridge cleaning day. That shit was seriously nasty. I found desiccated oranges in the back of the fridge and the bottoms shelf was covered in what I'm assuming was dried milk. I ended up having to pour vinegar on it to let it curdle before it would come up
