"apartments our houses? Why splitting between there and Southpark? Just to be closer to that area for entertainment purposes?"

Ideally we are looking at houses to rent. We've been in apartments for a long time and would just like to not have to worry about noise, upstairs/downstairs neighbors, etc.

Splitting between Locust and Southpark because bmel will be transferring to the Cheesecake in the Southpark Mall

Quote :
"Plaza Midwood is a good area, sort of ghetto in places and much closer to Southpark than Locust, obviously. I know you'll want to be closer to Locust for commute reasons, but I don't think traffic is bad going outbound on 74. Indian Trail blows, Mint Hill is ok, there's lot of stuff available in Matthews as well.

For the record, I live in Southpark at Park Road/Archdale intersection. Tons to do around here, great restaurants, etc."

What's wrong with Indian Trail? We've heard its a pretty good area. We aren't too concerned with having entertainment immediately available, but as long as we can drive there within a reasonable time its good to go. She will also be transfering to UNCC so we're interested in places that are within a reasonable drive of there.

^^I can walk to the Cheesecake factory at Southpark, woot.

Indian Trail isn't horrible, just not really for young people unless you're starting a family.

Mellow Mushroom on Selwyn opened up last week and it is as wonderful as I remember any other Mellow Mushroom being.

Also, looks like a new BBQ place going in on Central, by the people behind Big Daddy's, Cantina, etc.

Anyone given a thought about watching the FSU game in Charlotte?

I'm looking forward to The Diamond re-opening. It's a lot bigger than The Penguin, and hopefully will take the menu over to the new location.

Test

Where's some good fairly priced food for a single person around but not in uptown? My section of coworkers is getting split up to different areas and we're no longer doing the group lunch thing anymore. Penguin's, Green's, Open Kitchen, The Village are all starting to get old or take way too long.

What areas of town are you looking for? I would try looking through Yelp for good places based on the part of town you want to be in.

Some places I love that are not in Uptown:

- Big Daddy's
- Cantina 1511
- 300 East
- RuSan's
- Mellow Mushroom
- Selwyn Pub
- Vivace/Pisces (Metropolitan)
- Brixx
- Pizza Peel
- Koishi
- Duckworth's
- Tavern on Park/Tavern on the Tracks
- Pike's
- Soul Gastrolounge
- Dish
- Zada Jane's

I like to eat.

do any of you guys own homes or is most everyone renting? Does anyone live on the east/midwood side? I was pretty set on living outside the city closer to work but lately it appears i may not be able to afford it. The home prices seem much better the closer in.

i want some price's chicken coop.

the last 3 panther game programs have had Q&A pages with different players and each week they ask favorite guilty pleasure food and all 3 have said "chicken wings from price's chicken coop". i need to start dropping by on mondays and seeing if there are in players there

So where is the best place in uptown to watch the game? And by best...I mean they have lots of HD screens and are gonna blast the sound so I can actually hear shit. Is Blackfinn's still the wolfpack fan club spot?

Nix was damn good last night. So much food. I had the buffalo & blue burger. The fries were never ending and $2 oatmeal porters was a steal. Good times. We put Big Daddy's on the list of places to try.

Mellow Mushroom >>>>> Pizza Peel > Brixx

I'm just a big Mellow Mushroom fan. Pizza Peel has some good pizzas but it's overpriced. Brixx is very overpriced and you can't get anything other than individual pizzas. Brixx does have a good amount of buy one get one free's floating around though.

how about Hawthornes? I've never eaten at the original, but the one in the Eastfield area is great. and i've always had good experiences with Picasso. Their house specialty is delicious.

But i am excited to get over to the new MM and enjoy a white pizza soon.
