So was Cans. I think we must be cursing different places.

A lot of us watched at Icehouse on South Blvd. and we are 2-0 when I go there (UNC and WVU)

shit, i had something i meant to post in this thread last night and completely forgot.

I can say however that I went into the Total Wine off of Park last night because Brawley's was closed. What a disappointment, I always assumed they would have a better selection than the university TW but boy was I wrong. It was terrible.

Has anyone been to this IceHouse place in South End? it's today's Charlotte Groupon $20 credit for $10. advertising over 200 craft beers, yet the groupon can not be used on alcohol

Yeah Icehouse is pretty good, I've watched the World Cup, ACC Championship, UNC and WVU football games there. The food is top-notch for bar food and they have a great selection of beers. I'm planning to buy at least one of the Groupons today.

I recommend the blackened chicken nachos or pulled pork nachos. Quesadillas are also pretty good.

We were off today but I saw cars driving around in the afternoon uptown...Kinda stupid when a lot of the roads were still covered.

Job hasn't even called a delay yet tomorrow I have a feeling they are going to call it again tomorrow at 6 am

Walked there and back to Taco Mac, only about 1.5 miles each way. Wasn't too bad on the way there, but it's gotten icyyyyyy out there now.

had monday and tuesday off but had to take my gf to work monday morning since her miata was all but snowed in and she probably would have killed herself. Tuesday was still bad so the office closed for another one just to be safe. I took an extra couple hours this morning, finally rolled in around 9am. Things seem to be back to normal.

Yeah I was able to leave the icy fortress that was my condo parking lot this AM. No problem driving up South Blvd. and I imagine the other roads are fine too.

all the main roads are fine, and the sun has helped melt plenty of snow and ice today

but some of the side streets are still slushy, and will probably re-freeze tonight

hopefully everything gets melted by the end of tomorrow

Lot's of good choices...the only one my group is organizing for is George's Brasserie. Probably going to go with the Gruyere Crusted Short Rib out of the selections available.

The other places I would like to go that I haven't been yet: Chima, Melting Pot, The Liberty, BLT Steak, Fleming's.

Places I would recommend if you've never been: Bonterra, 300 East (best to go for brunch), Cajun Queen, Del Frisco's (went for Restaurant week a couple years ago, good stuff).

Places I don't think you need to spend $30 per person at: Cantina, Andrew Blair's, Bricktop, McCormick & Schmick's, Paco's Tacos, Red Rock's, Village Tavern, Mez, Press, Vida.

I think most of the time you can get in and out of these restaurants for < $30 per person, the only places I really like for restaurant week are steak places because the steaks are so expensive.

obviously, but they have the Independence ramps off of 277 blocked as they continue to clean up the wreckage, and 277 is a parking lot...took me about 10 minutes to get from the Independence exit to the Tryon/College/12th Street exit, which is like 1/2 a mile

spent the warm saturday afternoon with the lady making up our own afternoon bar crawl around uptown. Hit most of the familiars for a drink but finished off at Molly MacPhearson's. We both love craft beer and throwing darts so this place was up our alley. They carry a great selection of Scottish beers, including some of the big BrewDog beers. Pretty friendly staff too, we'll be back soon.

How is Kennedy's? I haven't been since they changed it over from Ed's. The thing I didn't like about Ed's was that it didn't feel like you were in a bar, they still had it segmented like a house.

It's still somewhat segmented, but I really enjoy it. It feels classy inside, nice dark colors and black furniture. I really enjoy it, probably more so b/c it's so close but I think it's still trying to find it's crowd. Some nights will be packed out and other nights you would assume should be (thursdays) are dead. But $5 carbombs all day every day is always nice.

and i think if they can stay in business they'll have lots of success this summer because the front porch is really nice

Double Post, but this was my original reason to post.

Cirque Du Soleil is coming back to Charlotte March 3-20th at the Charlotte Motor Speedway parking lot. I believe it was Quidam that came through about 4 years ago.

This is a brand new show "Totem"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totem_%28Cirque_du_Soleil%29

I've seen O and Mystere in Vegas and loved both. Will definitely check this one out.

Finally used the groupon at Icehouse last night. Wasn't too thrilled with the place. Decent prices, and would be a good place to watch a game but other than that it was kind of bland. I think once the weather warms up, however, the outdoor patio will be a premium place to be.

I'm not a huge fan of "smoked" chicken wings so i wasn't thrilled with those.

But in other news...Pisces groupon today! w00t!

Words of advice: Do not get the curry at Big Ben's. It's pretty bland and not as good as I was expecting (English places are supposed to have awesome curry).

The pizza at Icehouse is decent, as are the sandwiches. It's good for bar food, but mostly I only go there when watching a game. The atmosphere is great for a packed game, we watched the USA vs. England World Cup game there and it was a good time. The guy that runs it is the one that started Mac's.

Diamond is going to be slammed for the next couple weeks. Luckily it's open 11am - 2am for the next couple weeks before going 24/7. I don't know if there will be enough people to support it 24/7 but they would know better than I.

I remember going to the Diamond with my Grandpa under the old ownership. It'll be neat to see the new version, especially with the Penguin-ish menu. Pinky's is pretty awesome for Penguin stuff as well.

Boooooo to the new Penguin.
