^^ agreed. if it's about the money, there's no way he's coming. but, honestly, i think he might take it ala roy style. he's done what he wants to do with the steelers.

well, more than likely he will let us all know today
but saying something this early in our search, like the blog says, is not good for us

yeah, probably right....

But wait a minute, if we also offered him the job back in 2000, do you really think that he will turn down the NC State job 2 times in a row... That will hurt...

Man, all this speculation is driving me crazy....

Right now, my guess if the chances we get Bill Cowher are....

60%-YES
40%-NO

And if we don't hear any concluding evidence today from his weekly press conference (keep your fingers crossed), then that will be make the "YES" percentage even higher....

You're an idiot for getting your hopes up.

More like

1%-YES
99%-NO

alright, here is my take (btw, which is meaningless ) on the cowher situation:

if he is saying something TODAY, probably not a good shot we get him. i doubt he would announce he is leaving the Steelers w/ 5 games to go. Kind of a slap in the face to an organization that has been very loyal to him. BUT, if the point of hiring a consulting firm was to keep things more under wrap (which I know is hard to do w/ a name as big as Cowher's) then it could be a glimmer of hope that we have a shot if something is being announced.

I love Cowher and it would be awesome if he came, but either way IMO, there are a lot of good options out there right now (Johnson, Fisher, Chow) and if we could land one of them it would be very good for our program

I wouldn't count on Fisher or Chow. The titans love those guys. The team there is young (age) and is just starting to come back. They will be ther a couple more years. We don't have the money for those guys.

you dont pay any attention to what is giong on do you?

so many reports that that the titans will be cleaning house.

esp. after last year's draft fiasco when fisher and chow wanted lienart (sp), but the ownership insisted on drafting young, no matter what.

much distention over that issue and many others have led many to believe that the whole staff is on the way out.

(there was never any mention of jeff fisher as a candidate here..)

If we can't get Cowher/Chow/Fisher, I want Donnan and then maybe Johnson. Even after readign the past player's post on PJ, he still seems iffy to me.

do none of you remember what happened with bball?

We have all these high hopes, and then all of the potential coachs will realize that the wolfpack fans/media are horrible to deal with, and either a) all out say no or b) use us for raises again

Be prepared to have a football coach that probably was just someone that played back in the 70s and wanted to come back...basically our own version of a Bunting

^ entirely different. in basketball you're expected to at least contend with unc and duke, which i don't have to tell anyone how difficult that is.

football expectations aren't even close to those of basketball. asking to contend in conference in basketball is asking to contend for a nat'l championship, asking to contend in conference in football isn't anything special.

oh, and btw

his name's chuck amato, and he didn't work out. expect someone more impressive than bunting.

it's a lot harder to use us for a raise since we are using an agent this time.

If Fowler were heading the search, I would guess we fumble it around 'til we "land" Johnny Evans (securing our starting qb and new #1 wr for for the next three years). As it is, we'll get someone decent. Probably not our 1, 2, or 3, but partially because our 1 is Cowher and he was a pipe dream at best.

^^yeah, much better chances at landing a fball coach

^good reasoning... the only decent NC team at football this year was wake.. but they def. aren't competing for a national championship and it will be hard for them to keep winning year in and year out
Oh and ECU is bowling this year.. but they won 7 games and are not even close to being ranked in the polls

...still listening to the espn1250 radio after the cowher show. I can't believe there is/are ppl talking and writing articles up there wanting cowher fired this year. They must have some bad fans up there too, geesus.

Buut, that could be good for us if the public up there turns "sour on cowher"?

please make this crap stop.

i'll assume there is no way in hell he is going to coach here next year until i hear differently. i suggest most people do the same.

if anything, he takes a few years off, relaxes a bit, enjoys his pool, and then 3-4 years gets the itch to coach again and goes from there.

Apparently Cowher did not mention NC State at all during his presser. That's great news for State...and proves that Gold is wrong (At least, his 'announcement today' prediction)

Again, still snowball's chance in hell, but that is interesting nonetheless. I bet he specifically told the media no mention of NC State

Presser to be posted here later

I doubt that we get him, but I can always be hopeful.

I'm just hoping that Fowler is throwing the train at him to try and get him here. But then again, if we miss out on our top picks, the media will talk about how we couldn't land our choices and the fanbase will get pissed at Fowler for not trying to get choices that were more realistic.

^^^ i didn't think it was a sure thing... but possible.

and guess what, it was possible. guess what else, you don't know anything more about any of this than anyone else on here. you have no idea what's going through bill cowher's mind right now.

^ fowler is not handling this.
