PackPride What's your reaction to being at the top of the NC State search?
Cowher First of all, let me just say I have great admiration and respect for coach Amato and what he's done since he went down there. I'm very flattered to hear some of the things that have been coming out, but I'm not a candidate. I have a job here and my focus really is on this job right here, so you can take me off the list. I am flattered. It's a super program and I'm sure that they'll get a very qualified coach who's going to walk into a good situation.

PackPride Does it interest you at all?
Cowher No.

PackPride Has anyone tried contacting you about it?
Cowher No. Like I said, I've been getting a lot of contacts about it; I've heard about it. But like I said I've got a job here. Can you envision some day being a college coach? I don't know. I don't look that far down the road, I really don't. I guess those are times when you get in that reflective mode. The only thing I'm reflecting on now is that feeling we had after last Sunday's game and trying to rectify that. That's where the focus is at. Is it because of the logistics?

Cowher I'm here. I'm a coach here, as much as that may disappoint some people, but I am the coach here and I want to win these last five games. I'm going to do everything in my power to do that. Like I said, my focus, I've been here for awhile and I like it. It's a good job. I don't like the way we are right now and I'm going to do everything in our power to finish this thing up strong and see where the chips fall.

Cowher is likely telling the truth that he hasn't been contacted because we're having a search agency find us a new coach.

They don't have collective downs sydrome like our fan base and shit themselves over a championship NFL coach who was never planning to coach here.

I'm sure any realistic search agency is working on other candiates, and we'll hear about it when they're done.

Now STFU ABOUT COWHER AND FOCUS ON ACTUAL POSSIBILITIES FOR OUR NEW COACH

Awesome

We get publicly rejected thanks to our fanbase again.

How many coaches will say "no" to us nationally this time?

WTF are you talking about? How exactly did this particular rejection have anything whatsoever to do with our fanbase.

You think Cowher saying no to us is bad?

That doesn't make us look so bad whatsoever. Everyone who follows college football expected him to be our #1 phone call, and if we hadn't contacted him then we'd be idiots.

Now, if #2 and #3 publicly decline, then we're in trouble

Anyone who is pissed off or upset about this is a complete moron.

This was less than a 1% chance of happening... and now all of the stupid 'doom-and-gloomers' come out of the woodwork whining about how we missed out on Cowher.

There are plenty of very good coaches on our list who are interested in the position. If you're going to do nothing but whine about how we're going to suck becuase we didn't get Bill Cowher maybe you should find another hobby.

im just afraid we dont come off as an attractive enough school for a proven winner, especially with the the other schools that are coachless.

MY LIFE IS OVER BECAUSE WE THOUGHT WE HAD A SHOT AT ONE OF THE BEST FOOTBALL COACHES IN THE NFL JUST BECAUSE HIS WIFE LIVES IN RALEIGH JESUS SOMEONE PUSH ME OFF THE LEDGE THIS MAKES NC STATE LOOK TERRIBLE

all things considered

If I had to take a public rejection by Bill fucking Cowher or have some stupid bitch in the technician publish an article trashing every aspect of NC State athletics as it relates to fans, alumni, and the fucking vet school, I'd take the Cowher rejection any day.

People at our school actually have control over the technician. Thats just sad.

well we have a TON of young talent on the team that should be attractive to most coaches

we have a plethora of QB's that with any decent O line should be ok especially with Burke and Beck this year

who wouldnt want to work with Burke, may be a big timer in a few years.

and with the facilities, support and pay that we could offer...I would think its a pretty good job.

Cowher on being asked about coaching NC State in the future

Quote :

If he is only looking to the next 5 games, and hasn't thought about next year yet............I think we all know what that means for our coaching position vacancy come January.

i do think the interview could have come off as coach-speak just to get the media off his back(see Roy Williams) but i still dont see him here as coach

with the way the Steelers are playing right now, what do you expect him to say?
There's no way giving hope to the job here will generate a turnaround in PA...right now I'd say he's probably completely focused on trying to end the NFL season on a positive note, and not dealing with our search...we might get attention from him later, but who knows if we'll wait it out for the slim chance that he'd accept

awesome idea, lets just sit on our asses and wait around for cowher, thats the best hiring strategy I've ever heard. I mean we do have the luxury of just waiting around and picking who we want cause everybody wants to work here. "naw guys its cool, we're glad you're interested in the job and you're very qualified, but we're waiting for cowher".

I mean cause we had that same luxury when looking for a new basketball coach....

"Sorry that we are late on this. We are only bothering to put it up so that we can say that it is up there. Bill Cowher evidently said no to the Wolfpack in public today. However, after the public comments Chris Mortenson commented on Erik Kuselias’ radio show (ESPN) that Cowher to State is still a possibility - not a certain ‘no’ yet.

Honestly, we have no clue if there is anything more to Mortenson’s comments regarding the chance that Cowher could still end up at State; Cowher’s comments certainly didn’t sound like they left much room for interpretation. So, we don’t want to try to talk ourselves into a situation where we try to convince ourselves that Cowher’s press conference was a tactic to get out of the spotlight. "

It's all a tactical ploy by Cowher, he's such a genius. I can't wait til he gets here in January.
