^ Unfortunately i'm on 360 so no console commands for me.

Damn and I wanted to make Whiterun my base of operations. Now I've got to use dreary old Windhelm (it does have a really nice house though).

the Whiterun house is pretty shitty relatively speaking, but its location and proximity for fast travelling is awesome

i currently own the houses in Whiterun and Riften...Riften house is pretty cool since you get mannequins, a garden, a back porch with a lakeside view, and both an alchemy station and enchanting station...but i heard Solitude was the best, is it the one that has its own armory for showing off all your shit?

I've got all of the houses, but I still only use Whiterun.

I can't imagine dragging all of my shit across Skyrim, it would take forever.

can you use the follower command to have Lydia or somebody take the entire contents of a chest? that might make it easier

I saw a cool mod yesterday on Skyrim Nexus called "Dovahkiin hideout," which is a house accessible by all the other houses and has every crafting station, weapon stand, bookcase, manikin, and chest you'd ever need.

that mod is pretty cool, i think i will look into that one. it really is incredible what the modding community can do though. stuff that game developers don't think of the community does and actually gets it done and makes it look good too, like it was apart of the game the entire time.

Not a fan of the Solitude house, but I love the armory in the Windhelm house, it's location sucks though. I've been trying to get one in Riften but I can't get the Jarl to give me any missions to become Thane.

Riften Jarl doesn't explicitly give you any missions, I think. Everything in Riften is a pain in the dick.

Riften house is only 8,000 coins too and its real easy to get to once you fast travel into town

and of course it has both Alchemy and Enchanting stations, so you can do anything except smith

Has anyone completed the collect 30 Crimson Nirnroot quest?

Is this worth my time or should I just quit on my quest for 30 and use what I have for potions?

So I'm playing now, I'm like level 5 and just finished Bleak Barrows Fall or whatever. Accidentally killed what might have been an important NPC for all I know (the woman that has a house outside the first village and she has enchanting and alchemy stuff). Oh well, I'm already improved on my Fallout gameplay style. In Fallout I just kill everyone.

^^^its not a great reward, but IMO that is one of the most beautifully designed areas in all of video games, and there are much more than 30 crimsons in there, so its not hard to just go explore it in all its splendor and find 30+

^^I just looked up the reward for that. I guess I won't spoil it since it's easy to look up if you are so inclined, but I will say that it's very disappointing for the level of effort you'd have to put in. I already made like infinity of those at scout camp.

The crimson root reward isn't that great either, but it's easier to get since the roots are all right there. Again, it gives you a perk for something that's already far too plentiful in the game.

I got the house in solitude and then downloaded dragonborn edition mod for the house. It adds a whole bunch of armor/weapon displays and adds all the crafting needs and mini chests for each area for real easy organization all within the basement

Gathering the 30 nirnroots was a huge pain in the ass, and I don't really notice the bonus anyway. That said, I'm a completion whore and needed to finish the quest

I'm up to 7 or 8 at Level 52ish and finishing the main quest and most of the the thieves guild (except for returning the skeleton key - fuck that shit) and Dark Brotherhood. I may start hunting them down using UESP. I think there is only 1 stone that you must get at a certain point in the game, otherwise its locked away forever.

So I sided with the Imperial Legion and just completed the main civil war quest. Now all of the sudden Breezehome in Whiterun is unlocked without me purchasing. Why is this? The only thing I've read so far is that you have to purchase it if you side with the Stormcloakes, which I did not.

**
Well, the steward is still asking me to pay him the 5,000 for purchase, so I guess i don't own it. But, it's still unlocked. Guess I'll just use it to bang my housecarl.

so is the easiest way to unlock new shouts to use an existing shout in a city? isnt that how the couriers give you the word of power missions?

Question guys, do you only get thugs sent after you when people catch you stealing? Like, if I broke into a dude's house and stole all his shit but he never caught me, I wouldn't get thugs up my ass?

^^
Yes, that's one way. Shout in a town and some (unknown?) time later a courier will catch up with you and give you a letter. Read the letter and it starts the quest. The one thing about that though is that you can only have one of these quests active at a time. You can't shout in a town ten times and get ten letters.

The easiest way is to talk to that one greybeard guy. He'll give out quests... but there's a limit. He simply stops giving quests after a certain number of times you ask, I think the limit is 20. I did that in my first playthrough. I went to the greybeards until they stopped giving the quests, then started shouting in towns.

For the second playthrough I just shouted in towns and went to the places I remembered. I guess I'll reserve the 20 quests the greybeards can give for finding the last few or for when I get impatient waiting for a courier to show up.

^ I never got caught stealing and had thugs show up. The odd thing is that they only showed up once at the very beginning of the game (in Riverwood). I was like level 2 or 3 or something. I never saw them again.

^^ i've had that happen to me before. I stole some shit from a merchant in some random city. Pretty sure I did it while hidden. he still ended up sending some thugs after me. I don't think it's a bug, plus it's pretty cool to have that dynamic event occur IMO

i've had mercenaries show up to kill me when i was never seen stealing from a merchant or house. left my bitch outside and snuck late at night while they were sleeping and my "hidden" message never changed. so go figure.

my question is about the Dark Brotherhood assassins showing up with orders to kill me. i've had 2 of them already try to take me out too. are those triggered from stealing shit too? anyone know?

I believe the Dark Brotherhood assassins are triggered as well. I killed one and later joined the Brotherhood, so I wish the game had some dialogue for that...but oh well.

Kinda frustrating the Jarls dialogue regarding Ulfric doesn't change even after you kill him. They still are talking about him causing problems.

A book and a perk that gives you a 25% chance to create two potions instead of one when making potions. Pointless given how plentiful potions are in the game.

how long should I wait to do the twilight sepulcher mission where you lose the skeleton key? just got the skeleton key, my lockpicking is at 99 but i don't want to immediately give it up...still with 99 lockpicking (soon to be 100 obviously) its not that difficult to pick any locks

i might have bought 5 or 10 points worth of lockpicking but even when you break a lockpick it increases your lockpicking slightly...also you can practice in one of the rooms in the thieves guild

also i never use any apparel that boosts lockpicking, so i guess i might break more picks than if i did manually switch to bracers/rings that boosted lockpicking

but if i'm in a dungeon and any door or gate or chest is locked, i'm gonna open it

i cheat with lockpicks...by using the console to give me 1000 of them

i don't want to cheat to OPEN the locks...it's just a PITA to keep them...i does get annoying when they break, though

i've got like 400+ i think, and since they're weightless i don't care how many i have

thinking the skeleton key isn't all THAT great if i'm at 99 lockpicking already, and you have to turn in the skeleton key to finish the thieves guild questline and become guildmaster
