I also have the skeleton key and don't see myself getting rid of it anytime soon. I've almost run out of lockpicks because I stopped looting all but high level and boss enemies, and you get most of your picks from bandits and such.

I've also run my $75k into the ground by training at every level and having to pay off large bounties. I never would've thought it would happen

Get some smithing gear

Make Dwarven bows

Upgrade Dwarven bows

Buy tons of lockpicks, especially if you get a necklace of fo' real haggling, jesters clothes and a mask of good prices

Rinse and repeat.

downloaded the Dovahkinn's Hideout mod and I cant get over the number of levels and rooms to it. So much storage possibility I can never imagine anyone coming close to filling up those rooms. But it is still cool nonetheless.

that shit happened to me once with a follower. I eventually had to fast travel back and pick them up from the side of the mountain where they got stranded or whatnot

Since picking up the top heavy armor perk (Well-conditioned or whatever) I've actually increased speed and stamina so much that I leave followers in the dust. That and the fact that they're useless when sneaking around made be just not have a follower anymore

^^ similar thing happened to me. i told Lydia to wait somewhere while i did a quest and completely forgot where i left her when i was done. i went to where i thought she was and couldn't find her so i gave up looking. eventually i got a message saying my follower had tired of waiting and left. i dont know where she left from so i couldn't go meet up with her on the road to intercept her heading back to Whiterun. i read online that a follower can take upwards of 2-3 in-game days to return to their default location in a case like this. i had to wait more than 2-3 in-game days and i still had to search Whiterun to find her. the first time i looked in my house she wasn't there, then i went to dragonsreach and she wasn't there then i went back to my house and she was hiding in a corner. stupid biatch.

i think Lydia died in my game, multiple in-game days ago

i killed some giants and mammoths and ended up fast travelling somewhere and noticing she wasn't with me but Barbas was...i didnt think she could die if once she kneeled down to wait and heal herself you moved away to let her heal but I dunno what happened...wouldve liked to get back the daedric armor she was wearing and the daedric greatsword but otherwise i dont care

yeah i had her decked out in my highest armor to keep from having to healing hands her too much, or have her just get jacked up and die all the time and i'd have to reload. i've been kinda focusing on the magic side of htings recently, after starting out heavy on two handed/heavy armor and changing my mind about how i wanted to play the game. and learning how to play a game like this. never have before.

i used her to carry a bunch of shit around for me too, when i run out of capacity. so, if she would have died and been loaded with some loot i wanted to keep and hadn't had a chance to get back to breezehome with yet, it would have sucked.

i got a little bit of that message yesterday, but i barely caught a glimpse of what it said, and i had no idea what it meant.. in the split second i saw it was displayed (i was harvesting some shit and not paying attention to the upper left hand corner) i thought it said "your follower has grown tired of trees and leaves" and i was all "hunh i thought that bitch died.. what the fuck is she doing with trees and leaves? is she bored of me harvesting things as im running around and ran off?"

so that made me think i told her to wait somewhere (perhaps outside the fight with the guy to get the staff of magnus, or the last fight of the gauldur amulet thingie...) and forgot.

maybe she'll show up somewhere.

my perks and skills are all fucked up. at like level 25 or so. realized i should start smithing stuff, seeing as how my smithing was at like 30 and enchanting is 80.

Fuck Lydia. Everytime I go back to my main Breezehome house, she's always in my room, trying to get me to take her on my next adventure. I'd rather be alone.

that's why you bypass her altogether and get a wife...a home-cooked meal once a day, money from her job, and lover's comfort for sleeping with her...

...and she leaves you alone otherwise

i've got Vilkas following me around for some reason (probably a Companions quest, how the hell should I know) but you can't give him any items...once I finish up that mission I'll probably get my wife Mjoll to follow me around assuming I can make her carry all my dragon bones

i dunno if i've been doing it wrong or just taking my time with the word walls, but i finally asked the greybeard if he had heard about any more word walls, he marked one on my map, and when i got there (and killed a dragon) i got 3 different words, an entire shout on one wall at the same time

iirc all the other ones i got from shouting in towns and exploring dungeons were just one word

also where is a good place to find a piece of equipment enchanted with some kind of enchantment boost that i can disenchant in order to enchant other equipment with the enchantment boost?

so far i have some enchanting potions but no gear to put on, and i recently got to level 100 and unlocked the dual enchantment perk

There isn't a fortify enchantment enchantment, much like you can't create a fortify alchemy potion.

looks pretty cool, lots of things in this game make me wish I had it on PC

how were people making the existing mods for this game before the creation kit? or were they just editing certain texture and graphic files and replacing sound files and not actually creating new terrain?

No the game is very moddable even without the creation kit. There are unofficial tools that let you do lots of things.

The creation kit will make everything much easier though, and will let people do scripting and new quests and stuff.

I thought about picking up everything I had stashed in Breezehome in Whiterun and moving my base of operations to somewhere like Solitude.

Turns out I have over 2500 carry weight worth of alchemy reagents alone stashed in Whiterun.

Looks like I'll be there for a while.

i got a miscellaneous quest about a week ago from some jarl to kill the dragon located at Bonestrewn Crest...i went there and no dragon, i think i might've been there another time exploring and killed it...also when i try to show the quest's location on the map it just gives me the thump sound when you cant complete an action...but if i manually go to bonestrewn theres no dragon...i assume this is some kind of glitch but i thought when you get bounties for dragons at places where you've already killed them they respawn, you just dont get another dragon soul when they die?

only thing it does is stay on my quest list, but i wonder if i can do other jarl bounties if its permanently on the list?

You should be able to do other Jarl's bounties, but you won't get a new one for the Jarl who is asking you to kill the dragon until you kill the dragon.

I've been to Dragon's perches that I'd cleared before and still found a dragon there again, so keep giving it a shot. Eventually you should find one there.

cool, im pretty sure i have also been to perches and had dragons show up again (when i figured out you dont get a 2nd soul from the same dragon) but i guess i just have to give it more time

enthir gets 2 new daedra hearts every 48 hours, but from what i can tell it takes a couple weeks of gameplay time until your Riften house's garden regrows all its food and ingredients, so i guess dragons might be the same way

You can't force shout at him or hit him with arrows on an exposed part?

If you get the strongest lightning shout that might do it too?

I haven't tried any special shouts, but I tried to fusrodah him out of the wall, arrows, spells, jumping up and smacking him...nothing. it is quite peculiar.

I thin origunakky he was sleeping on the wall, but when i startled him awake he warped into the wall

you talking about at the very end of the mission inside on the little ice bridges? thats one of the few fights where i've died multiple times trying it, and i play on Pussy difficulty level

luckily because of the design of the level you can hide behind some pillars and hopefully fight the enemies one at a time, but yeah, bring lots of potions, and try messing around with some different shouts...i think i read somewhere you can whirlwind spirit at the dude as soon as you go inside and he wont be able to summon all his boys if you get to him fast enough

i had no trouble with the guy...but i think the "impact" perk has a lot to do with my ability to beat the shit out of bad guys who should be able to mop the floor with me...i can fire off double firebolts one right after another and 3/4 time is staggers them...and with my magic regen, i'll kill just about anything before i run out of magicka

i'm not bragging...i think it's a little off-balance that the stagger happens as often as it does

I don't have jack shit to do in this game anymore aside from randomized bounties and assassinations...which actually are pretty fun . Finished all the quest lines that I found aside from returning the skeleton key and the beginning of the Blades crap after the main quest.

Is the Companions Guild quest line worthwhile? I suppose I should just start another character...but that's gonna be a ton of work. Hell, starting another character and then doing Companions with that one might make more sense, since I obliterate anything I come across right now anyway.

Companions Questline is cool, I just finished the main quest, but you can get some good followers who also can train you in skills (pay them then exchange items with them and get your money back)

well for the black star boss i was attempting to use the staff of fireballs coupled with close wounds in the left hand.

if you just ran down the path, then got the first guy a few times going back and forth to the left and recharging with close wounds if he'd hit you, i could get 1-2 of the 3 dead before they ran up the path and just destroyed me. and i'd have to recharge the staff using grand soul gems like three times. i got close about nine or ten times and never quite got it done. so i reverted and the guy is just waiting for me to come back.
it was very frustrating. also for some reason i was in no way equipped to be doing that battle, with like 3 minor healing/magika potions. hah.

i've since got my destruction up, and used the impact perk. it really is just not quite fair how much of a difference that makes. even on dragons and dwarven centurions and shit.

i'll probably go back to black star when i get up to level 60 in destruction, so i can have the second of the increased damage for the tree spells perks in hand, that and impact i dont see how it should be a problem.

started up dark brotherhood. i think i'm nearly done with that questline. on the last contract and am about to finish off the line from what's her face.

not playing on novice.

Since the Azura's star seems to be the unanimous hardest part of the game, I did a quick search and here's what I did for that quest:

Quote :
"[Dual wielding] helped me annihilate the Azura Star quest. I was getting one shot from a distance by the daedric casters, so I used a frost atronarch to get up on the first one, smoked him with one power attack, used Become Ethereal to get in melee range of the other caster, took him out, then killed the main quest guy. Supposedly he's normally summons three daedric enemies but I only saw two. Had just enough time to gather their hearts and some random loot from him before i got teleported out...but i haven't seen any mention of other loot in the star.

For that quest I had loaded up on fire resistance, but I took the same amount of damage from the first play through when I had the 70% fire resist neckpiece and the next few tries when I had that necklace, a 50% resist shield, and 12% resist ring (about 75% life loss from one fireball). Ended up just fronting on damage and beat it the second try...first try I nuked the first daedra, but then got one shot by a fire ball from the second guy. The fire resist certainly helped, but it seems that they've capped it"

You can also beat it cheaply by summoning Daedra after Daedra with the Sanguine Rose and stand near where you spawn. They'll spawn and go after the enemies and eventually win out.

i dont have the rose yet, but was wondering how it'd work out if i conjured up a fire attronach and the dark brohterhood spirit and let them kinda run wild while i tried to dual shot from a distance with firebolt

When you do finish the Azura's Star quest, you have two choices for your reward: Azura's Star, or The Black Star...when the guy is explaining the two, he says Azura's Star can absorb white souls (animals, monsters, etc) and The Black Star can absorb black souls (humans)...he's wrong, The Black Star can absorb ANY soul, so you should choose that one

If I'm out running around and see a couple mammoths, I always use the Black Star to recharge a weapon, then use one of my weapons enchanted with soul trap to kill the mammoth and recharge the Black Star with a grand soul
