^^^Core men's fashion is astonishingly conservative and doesn't change very quickly. The casual, faster developmental elements of fashion are responsible for something like cargo shorts, and that is a "trend" cycle long term, that's true enough.

^Fair enough. I agree that it's pretty douchey to say that no one can dress against what is thought to be "fashion rules," but it's not douchey to say that, among people who are concerned with fashion, cargo shorts aren't particularly good looking. You're right that people should be less concerned with other people's choices, but just saying that I don't think cargo shorts are a good choice isn't necessarily me trying to tear you down.

the thing is, i still haven't seen anyone post a reason outside of their opinion for why cargo shorts (in general) are a "bad" thing

i can at least argue that sitting on my knife, phone, keys, or wallet is uncomfortable and i don't particularly want to scratch up my phone by putting it in the same pocket with my keys or knife, and putting it in the same pocket as my wallet makes it too bulky...so cargo shorts are PERFECT

please, someone give me a reason that isn't your dumbass opinion on fashion as to why cargo shorts are stupid

i'm not arguing practicality. for some they are very useful. but honestly, why does the average guy need to carry so much shit? bulky wallets, a large ring of keys, pocket full of change, knives, flashlights...no one needs all that shit anymore. no matter what you think you aren't johnny seal team 6.

most cargo shorts are unsightly. i say most because most people wear the same ones they bought 10 years ago. There is a place for more slim looking cargos from Patagonia and the like. and certain guys can pull them off no problem. But the computer science ilk still wear the ones with a 15" inseam that you can stuff a small child into the pockets. You might as well stuff those pockets full of balloons and go to a child's birthday party, clown.

I also like it when people are individual in their choices and don't go with the herd. I love fashion so much but I love the art behind it. The creativity. Not the "let me judge you because you wear what you want and not what I want you to wear." I want to be a designer and I honestly think I would do well but they are a dime a dozen. (The punk exhibit at the Met totally is inspiring to me.)

Just don't date people that have "poor" fashion if that is your standard, you fucking yambags. Don't put it on others to fall into your ideas just the same way cargo shorts wearing protractor pinching nerds wouldn't expect you to wear those shorts.
