My Azenis were awesome at VIR last monday. It was only about 55 at the high and I didn't have any problems with them overheating and getting greasy like a lot of people say happens. And I wasn't driving slow either, I was pushing it pretty hard as Wrecks can attest to (he has me on video getting sideways through turn 1).
Am I the only one on here driving on Friday? 11/27/2006 6:51:41 AM |

Well they were cheaper about 2 weeks ago when we bought ours. I think mark paid like 120 per tire or something. So it was right around $500 for his. 11/28/2006 4:26:10 AM |

You probably dont want to grease your pads before a track event as the grease will probably rub off.
Besides, do you really care if your breaks squeek on track? =P 11/28/2006 8:57:20 PM |
Golovko All American 27023 Posts user info edit post |
yes, i care that they squeel on the street. and it won't make a difference if they wear off i'll just reapply
plus i'm not actually greasy the pads...just the pins and the back of the plates where it contacts with the pistons.

i got almost physically sick the last time i bedded my track pads in. its rediculous. i think theyre extra grabby during the bed in process.
one of my camber plates recently slipped and i just discovered one of the bolts is stripped... two outta three aint bad tho right? shit. 11/28/2006 10:55:33 PM |
baonest All American 47902 Posts user info edit post |
if they dont see problems, then you are good to go. if 2 of 3 will hold, stick the other in there with some duct tape. haha
i went to roebling road with my friends S2k. one of his lug nuts was stripped..
so we just placed it in the hole onto the stud, and for some reason, the tech inspector had a torque wrench ready, and instead of checking the lugs, he said "what do you torque your wheels to?"
man we got lucky, we were the second car in line, and the first car looked like it recieved a 200 point inspection. 11/28/2006 10:59:48 PM |

nah, http://www.chasecam.com/mounts-suction.htm chase cam SN31 mount
itll be here by friday. they are in california, if you need one, you can still order tomorrow, with 2 day air.
they have an SN30, which is just a basic 3 suction mount that can mount anywhere ouside on glass or smooth surface.
the SN31 can mount inside also on the windshield. thats the one i got.
i have a real small panasonic camcorder.
ive heard some good things about chase cam. so hopefully i can add to that after VIR.
if i get the hang of it, perhaps some of you nigs can use it too, but you gonna have to get your own MiniDV tapes. 11/29/2006 12:14:40 AM |

if you have a stock rear headrest w/ the two rod things that slide up/down, you can make one out of angle iron w/ holes in it and some ubolts/nuts 11/29/2006 12:18:07 AM |
baonest All American 47902 Posts user info edit post |
yeah i was thinking about it. i actually have the parts. but ive read that there is a lot of vibration.
plus a lot of track schools may get iffy with it incase of an accident, they dont want the rod going into the passengers neck.
i shoulda made it, but with this chase cam, i can mount the camera anywhere now, on the windshield, on the fender, or the back hatch and watch all the cars that i pass and see the massive distance left when i hit vtacks 11/29/2006 12:22:53 AM |

yeh that is pretty sweet. i borrowed a friend's camera last time.. maybe i can again.. it was just a camcorder mounted on a tripod in the back seat.
footage of me pwning the wolf web would be pretty cool... 11/29/2006 12:24:40 AM |

well, I have a camcorder, just need a roll bar mount for it don't really want to fork over the 80-100 bucks for one though, and I don't feel comfortable showing up with a jerry-rigged one 11/29/2006 12:26:19 AM |

hah it worked fine for me. of course it was strapped down tightly. even passed tech inspection and it produced great video. it had a wide angle lens that showed out the whole windshield, the shifter, and almost all of the steering wheel. not too shaky or anything 11/29/2006 12:31:43 AM |

There's an 80% chance of T-Storms tomorrow at VIR. I better get some new wiper blades. I hope it rains for about half the day, I wouldn't mind getting some wet track experience. But at the same time I don't want to deal with it raining in the paddock. 11/30/2006 2:54:19 PM |

Just hope to god that your car doesn't break, and you're forced to do on-site repairs in 50 degree rain.
