I know he is essentially a reptile and doesn’t learn but he really needs to understand that this is a PUBLIC HEALTH issue and not an ECONOMIC issue. You tackle the pandemic with a full throated response and the economic side takes care of itself.

My only question is if what if Trump is telling the truth and the government does have "tremendous control" over the virus? What if he's accidentally leaking that the government knows more? - have separate sections in hospitals for testing suspected cases
- the testing protocol for those who come to said sections
- quick analysis of tests (4 hrs)
- making suspected cases wait while their tests are analyzed
- confirmed cases separated from their families
- lockdown whole cities
- and whatever else he said

I think everyone agrees that we think Trump is failing right now but there has to be a measurable benchmark to measure that after this starts to play out several months down the road. What is that? (no moving the goalposts) You have to be fair and fact-based.

For me its South Korea and other countries.

If we beat South Korea by October, Trump did a "tremendous job"

If we are somewhere between the Western European countries, then Trump did ok considering.

and If we are worse off than all of Western Europe including Italy, then Trump failed.

I think thats a fair, measurable benchmark for evaluation.

I will be comparing deaths per 1 million population to evaluate the job Trump did in handling this.

OK Well Trump fans will say that people already determined he failed before anyone died and TDS people have already determined that he failed when in reality there may or may not be anything that can be done. We all have our beliefs but there has to be a method of using facts and evidence to evaluate our handling of the situation.

Loss of life is my sole indicator specifically because thats the most important thing I care about but the reality is that even the most well-equipped countries with the best preparation and leadership will lose life. The key question is how much.

Thats my point. Everyone is saying things like that but what if you end up wrong? You will say it anyway. I'm clearly stating how I will evaluate things based on facts. Everyone who doesn't do so is operating based on emotion and you will end up with 40% of the country who says Trump did a good job no matter what then 50% of the country who says Trump did an awful job no matter what.

One group will happen to be right but neither group cares about facts.

Theres a growing narrative on the right that the left calls everything racism.
