in these types of games i tend to do the missions in the order that i'm introduced to the characters and try to finish all of that persons before moving on. In this case Bonnie, Marshal, Dickens, Seth, Irish is the basic order for New Austin. Now sometimes you can't do all the missions in order because something has to happen in the story for them to reappear, when that occurs i just move on to the next in line.

RDR seems a lot easier to follow in this case then, say, GTA 4 that had 4-5 main story arc mission characters open at one time.

i havent really played any games like this before, well, not since GT vice city

i'm not really much into games, but kinda have been recently

I got bored with the Bonnie missions and started the one where you save the cattle from jumpin' off the cliff but didnt finsih it or go futher than that.

Did some Marshal missions, but havent seen him in a while.

Dont like three or four West Dickens ones, three or four Seth ones, and got the machine gun from the Irish missions.

I know im doing things in the wrong order because i keep having to do some things over and over again, like solomon's whatever like four times, with the safe.

guess ill go back and finish off the bonnie ones, but man, herding and shit is boring.

So is there a trick to getting bounties to appear?

I have like two left in Mexico and Blackwater and I'm trying to get that 100%

(It's cool that you can hang out at the police office/train station/church and wait for a guy to actually walk over and nail the bounty flier to the wall. But I accidentally ran into the guy doing that in Blackwater and he didn't come back and it's been like 27 damn days and it sucks.)

i doubt this is how you want to do it, BUT ...

if you have a bounty on your head for more money than you actually have, it will provide a message that you are unable to pay your bounty, but you can earn it by capturing another bounty (i guess kinda like the whole game's main plot)

of course you have to surrender in order to get in jail

i always notice they seem to get nailed up first thing in the morning right around the time the shops open.

but i haven't noticed a real trick to getting them to pop up. It does seem to happen more when i save in a town in the middle of the night and advance time to early morning.

bounties appear at the beginning of the day.. 7:30-8.. i never quite nailed down if it mattered which town you were in. but if i remember correctly, for mexico, i had 2 bounties at the fort with the canons, then 3 each at the town in the middle and the town on the far left.

got all 4 new elizabeth bounties in blackwater, and for new austin i think i got 2 in the top left town, 3 in armadillo, and 3 at the mcfarlands

(i'm too lazy to look up the town names)

Whats the best horse? I had a golden one that i roped during a mission with bonnie that would always come when I whistled. Then I went to mexico and got a dark horse which got killed by a wolf. Whistled and got my golden horse back and then he got killed by a wolf.

Have you buys bought the rights to a horse yet? Should I bother with the middle ones or just get the kentucky horse?

The golden one is the Kentucky Saddler.

It's the same quality as the Hungarian half breed, a white one you find in mexico, and the American standardbred a really dark brown (almost black but not quite) one you can get in west elizabeth.

they are the top 3 horses but they arent the same. american standard breed (can't get until you unlock blackwater) has the fastest speed in the game but not as much stamina. kentucky sadler i believe i read is the middle of the 3 with great stamina and great speed and the HHB has the most stamina and is just slightly slower than the Sadler.

Buy the deeds for those three horses and then you can use the deed to access the horse anytime you want. never being sans horse when you're stranded.

But you have to buy it at Best Buy for it to even be an option (although its pretty sweet when a Cougar swipes War Horse in the gut, and you just run away a little bit and shoot the cougar to death)

The Kentucky, The Hungarian and The Standardbred are pretty much all tied for the 2nd best horse though

you get a bonus outfit from some other stores, but its just an outfit or a horse, its not necessary

the 2nd best horses are just fine...its all about the guns anyway

but i formed a bond with War Horse (no smiley available for my face)

yes, buy the deeds. You can use them an infinite number of times. just access them in your kit, click on the one you want, whistle, it will come running.

I somehow accidentally shot the horse that I got from Bonnie. I jumped off and was trying to target another animal or a person or something and ended up capping the free horse....whoops...

Maybe I'll just buy the Kentucky horse when I get some dough.
