I still believe TJ gets it.

The people actually around the ACC, that follow it closer than just national headlines, know Warren is the better player.

Hell, overall, I don't even know if I would say Warren is the better player

But he sure as hell had a better season

Such bullshit... http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/10588120/major-conference-player-year-picks-college-basketball?refresh=true

Quote :
"ACC

Fran Fraschilla: Jabari Parker | F | Duke Blue Devils

Regardless of class, Parker was the best player in the ACC from the start of the season to the finish. His freshman year culminated with a 30-point effort against North Carolina in what may be his last game at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday night. He is an ultra-efficient scorer (19.2 points per game) and hits 48.7 percent from the field. His versatility makes the Blue Devils very difficult to defend.

Bruce Pearl: Jabari Parker | F | Duke Blue Devils

Parker made history Saturday night against North Carolina, as his 30 points were the most ever by a Duke freshman in the storied rivalry. Though I wanted to find a Virginia player and considered N.C. State's T.J. Warren, Parker shone above the rest. He does it all for the fourth-ranked Blue Devils, inside-and-out. He's one of just six freshmen since 1997 to average at least 19 points and nine rebounds a game. The others were Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley, Chris Humphries, Carmelo Anthony and Troy Murphy.

Seth Greenberg: Jabari Parker | F | Duke Blue Devils

Warren has had a great year, same with North Carolina's Marcus Paige and Syracuse's C.J. Fair, but the POY in the ACC is the most versatile player in the league: Parker. I can't imagine, if you asked every coach the conference, if there was one player in the league they would want more than Parker. His game has grown throughout the season. Since the fourth ACC game, 77 percent of Parker's shots have been in the lane. He is hard to keep off the glass, as he averages nine rebounds a game. A terrific one-on-one player, he can score on the block as well as face you up and beat you off the dribble from the elbow and wing. Parker is a great finisher in transition."

I'm starting to think that neither of these fuckes watched any of TJ's games except the ones where we played either duke or UNC.

meh, I'm not surprised the national media would pick Jabari over TJ. it's dumb, but whatever.

Parker is certainly versatile, but TJ is also a "does it all" guy.

Pretty good analysis by Lauren Brownlow (who's a unc alum)

4^

I guarantee if you ask Gott if he'd rather have Parker or Warren this year, he'd 100% say Warren. Warren made our bad team slightly above-average, Parker just made their good team really good(borderline great at times).

Anyone know when they're suppose to announce the winner? Guess I would have thought it would come out yesterday with the rest of the announcements.

exactly

this isn't about who will be better in 5 years, it's about who had the better season, and that was definitely Warren

everyone who is voting for Parker makes a great case for Freshman of the Year, but not Player of the Year

I'm glad something good came out of this season. We knew rebuilding was going to be tough before it started.

my guess is the split on the warren-parker votes was fairly clear cut between local media/acc market media and national media types.

ALSO SOMEBODY VOTED JAMIE DIXON FOR COACH OF THE YEAR!

there are some truly terrible votes here. My best guess at the order of guys who should have their voting rights revoked...

Jamie Dixon COY
Fair POY
Devin Thomas DPOY
London Perrantes FOY
Parker 4 votes DPOY
Warren DPOY
Larranaga COY

Parker is really good. But for him leading his team to the tourney that goodman keeps trumpeting? They were OVERWHELMING favorites to win the ACC this year (50 votes; second had 3) and they finished third. It's not like he came in and carried an underdog to third.

[Edited on March 11, 2014 at 1:22 PM. Reason : Oh and Jabari's first four ACC games is why]

Agreed. Hell, I might even argue that Jabari's ceiling is higher.

But this thing is pretty simple:

Which player had the best season?

Who had a better season than Warren?
