These words are despicable

http://www.policymic.com/articles/88577/if-you-thought-u-s-sexism-was-bad-listen-to-what-kim-jong-un-just-broadcast-on-state-tv

And the article contains links to other recent crazy acts of his, including executing someone with a flamethrower.

Pretty fascinating if true.

Little man hasn't been seen since September 3rd and didn't attend Friday's 69th anniversary of the Worker's Party of North Korea, which also pays tribute to his father and grandfather, which is a pretty big deal. State media is supposedly still saying he is suffering from "discomfort".

if there was a coup why would they keep it secret? wouldn't they want the world to know he was overthrown and/or dead so changes could happen?

A coup doesn't necessarily mean whoever is now in charge is planning on being less oppressive to their people or less secretive to the outside world. If there was, in fact, a coup.

They also say that something like half the military inner circle had recently been replaced. Obviously they've already had problems with... retention. The uncle of Kim Un was executed some time ago, which might be a part of the same trend. Exactly what that trend is, we can't really be sure.

But either way, this would seem to indicate that they don't have perfect internal unity. Which side is it being replaced? Even if they are anti-regime and pro-West, a public proclamation could be poison internally. Even if they had reached out to other governments, it could be kept a secret.

We still have no idea.

It would be nice if we could quit fucking with these poor people. It's really not significantly different than our relationship with Cuba, IMO. Sure, there are some differences, but really it gains us nothing and is only causing serious harm to the common N. Korean who already has it bad enough.

^ agreed. Sop fucking with them; that way, the N Korean people will have their own leadership to blame, and the leaderships claims of "the US is the reason you are living in pre-1900s conditions" will begin to ring hollow. Then again, it's not like the masses there really have any ability to research those claims, so it probably wouldn't make a difference anyway.

So we just tested 2 old minutemen icbm that can reach targets around the world. Why is this legal but other countries doing the same thing would be considered an international crisis?

Yeah, life is pretty good right up until you're shot. Or, at least until you have a medical condition requiring more than Motrin and foot powder.

I fully expect North Korea to test launch this ICBM they have been talking about fairly soon after Trump takes office. I wouldn't be surprised if they do it on Saturday tbh. It also wouldn't surprise me at all to see some terror attacks here in the US just to see how Trump reacts.

It would be nice if we could just make a few minor concessions and make long-term peace with DPRK. I think those concessions could be as minor as giving a withdrawal of American forces and ending all sanctions. The dates could be staggered with enough time to sell necessary weapons and training to the South so they could protect themselves. This is the type of move I thought Trump was capable of when he spoke about America first and not being able to afford to police the world anymore.
