I don’t get the love for BC right now. Yes they are 3-0, but who have they beaten? They beat UMass as they should, they beat Holy Cross, who I didn’t even know fielded a football team, and they beat a Wake Forest team that needed overtime to beat Tulane, all while allowing them to put up 34 points on their “vaunted” BC defense.

AJ Dillon is super good. I think they have a QB that is semi competent (I might be underselling him, he’s better than a lot of QBs they’ve had lately). Which means for the first time under Addazio they might actually have a pretty good O. And they’ve always had strong D under Addazio. So I get the excitement about them. I don’t know enough about their other personnel to have a strong opinion about them myself. But the idea that they might be the 2nd best team in the Atlantic doesn’t seem so far fetched to me.

by the same token...it's probably either them or us as #2 in the Atlantic. i mean...Wake, Cuse, UL, and FSU aren't looking scary either. i guess we have a smaller sample size with the WV game getting cancelled, and i know we haven't been super impressive so far. it's more of a testament to how assy FSU has looked...and how Wake, UL, and Cuse aren't remotely exciting.

Yes they are. For all the talk about the toughness of the Atlantic...with shitty FSU and no Lamar Jackson, it’s pretty wide open after clemson. And outside of clemson there’s no real games I look at and think we’re obvious underdogs. We’ll definitely be underdogs in some of the remaining games, but none of the games feel like it’d be a huge upset if we won. At the same time, the shitty teams in the division are better. BC, Wake, Cuse are all improved. There’s no obvious cellar dweller (well, I guess FSU but nobody expects that to be their norm) like in past years. Outside of Clemson, the Atlantic looks a lot like the Coastal...a lotta 3-5, 4-4 teams.

it's funny how much weight beating FSU carries even when they're awful. Syracuse is ahead of us in one poll and a spot behind us in another.

I agree that we haven't beaten anyone and even getting votes is based on speculation that mostly revolves around Finley and our WR corps, although I do think that a win over UVA will put us in the top 25.

I could see us winning out sans Clemson, but I know that we'll drop at least a couple of games because State.

i mean...yeah we haven't beaten anybody. but we sure as hell haven't lost either (let alone to a terrible opponent). which is my big gripe with VT getting votes. and again...i know that's just how voters are, they won't drop a team from 14th to 0 votes in 1 week, but it's still laughable that they are still coming in at 28 in the AP and 24 in the coaches.

i'm not even arguing that we should be ranked. this has nothing to do with us. i'm mostly just laughing at voters that i guess see they beat FSU (which should hold no weight this year) plus the name recognition of VT so they rank 'em.
