He will just redact all of the damaging stuff and say it was personal. Lame.

I really don't know how the 216 records are going to bite unless he called Wichard. The only reason that would be bad is because he's denied talking with Wichard and then it would be a lie. But as far as other agents, the tutor, or anyone else, what exactly is an NCAA violation about calling someone? I doubt he called recruits from his 216 number in dead periods. I'm sure, he like every other shady person on this planet, has had a go phone that is long gone. Yea it would be funny to see the 216 records and calling the tutor at 2 am every once in a while, but that's not exactly an NCAA violation. Let me know if they get emails or bank transactions. But a record of him calling someone besides Wichard? I don't know how that's bad.

Keep in mind, it was made public recently by a journalist that Thigpen, the old linebackers coach (part of the bunting regime) came to Butch ratting out Blake and Butch told him to buzz off essentially. It would only take the NCAA a half hour to talk with Thigpen about this case and how Thig laid everything on the table about Blake (as if Butch didn't know already prior to that).

pure speculation, but he had a 919 area code university-issued cellphone, was his 216 number not his go phone?

I remember a few things.

His 919 phone was almost never used (maybe 5 times) in his 4 years at UNC.

His 216 number showed up on Blake's UNC phone records (i think Blake had a UNC and Personal)

There was another 216 number that also showed up on a lot other UNC personnel's phone records (including Blake's phone).

I don't remember all the phone records reviewed, but Butch's 216 showed up on Baddour, Thorp, Blake, The LB coach, some other coaches, and i'm missing someone. so basically he could sharpie everything else out as long as all the phone records match between other UNC employees.

Gah, I wish. I was so disappointed a few years ago when some of us had taken a bummed out friend to Hooters and they had a soccer championship on TV.

The championship game was being played in Cleveland and one of the teams was the Steamers. We got our hopes up and were getting ready to order jerseys until we found out that it's the St. Louis Steamers.

Major let-down, I still haven't forgiven St. Louis.

The 13-member search committee tasked with recommending a list of athletic director candidates to University of North Carolina Chancellor Holden Thorp met for the seventh time on Monday morning. Multiple sources confirmed that three candidates, with Cunningham tabbed as the top choice, were recommended to Thorp at that meeting. The committee was formed by Thorp on Aug. 8, met for the first time on Aug. 26, and began the interview process in late September. Committee chairman Lowry Caudill told Inside Carolina on Monday that the committee had interviewed “quite a number of folks.” UNC hired Carr Sports Associates, Inc. to aid the committee in conducting a national search of candidates that had athletic director experience. A Notre Dame graduate, Cunningham has been in his current position since 2005. He served as Ball State’s athletic director for three years prior to taking the Tulsa job after working for 15 years in the Notre Dame athletic department, serving as associate director of athletics for external affairs from 2000-02 and associate athletics director for finance and facilities from 1995-2000. Cunningham was pursued last December by Kansas for its vacant athletic director position and was widely-reported to be the KU search committee’s top target. The Associated Press reported on Dec. 15 that the two sides were working out final contract details, but Cunningham ultimately agreed to a contract extension with Tulsa the following day. During his time at Tulsa, Cunningham spearheaded fundraising for several new athletic facilities, as well as a renovation of the football stadium. Cunningham’s track record and innovative approach in marketing, fundraising and corporate sponsorships moved him to the forefront of the committee’s search.
