I kinda feel like that's selling Sotomayor a little short. While she did go to a private Catholic school, she grew up incredibly poor and eventually got into Princeton working her ass off before Yale. She then worked as assistant DA for years in NY dealing with brutal cases involving childhood pornography, before leaving for private practice and eventually becoming a Federal judge. Her autobiography is a great read, and of the remaining justices, she's definitely my favorite person in SCOTUS.

^^For clear communication in a message board thread format you need to learn to format your posts in a way that shows that you are changing the subject from the previous post.

Top of the page you change the subject from Clarence Thomas to, I assume, KBJ by just saying "she...." then just now you change the subject back to CT by just saying "he.....". By context clues we can figure it out in these two cases but does it take much more effort to add clarity?

I don't think Clarence Thomas' current health has any implications on the SCOTUS make up.

We don't have long between now and mid-terms. If Clarence Thomas holds on through mid-terms, which I'd consider likely given RBG was much older and in and out of the hospital over years, but resigns after, then I'd expect a we'll be right back in the Merrick Garland scenario. [assumes senate flips back republican]
