Quote : | "[Update: After much speculation, Nissan today announced the GT-R sports car will start at $69,850 in the United States when it goes on sale in June 2008. No further pricing details were released.] Launched at the Tokyo Motor Show in October, the GT-R is powered by a 3.8L twin-turbo V6, good for 473 horsepower and 434 ft-lb of torque.
The only transmission that will be available in the GT-R is a GR6 dual-clutch six-speed. The GT-R's powertrain is reportedly good for a zero to 60 time of 3.5 seconds, a quarter mile time of only 11.7 seconds and a top speed of 192 mph.
In addition, recent reports indicate the GT-R lapped the Nurburgring's Nordschleife in 7 min 35 seconds — placing it in some pretty elite company. That time trails the Pagani Zonda F by two seconds and the Koenigsegg CCR by one, but the GT-R lapped the track faster than a Mercedes SLR McLaren (7 min 40 sec), Porsche 911 Turbo (7 min 40 sec) and the Corvette Z06 (7 min 42 sec). I'm very curious to see what performance enhancements the Spec V version will have.
^man those times have been out for almost 2 weeks, where have you been? Also there's speculation about the tires that were used. Very impressive but I want to see an independent source back up those times. I just have a VERY hard time seeing this car as faster than a Z06 around the ring. The Z06 has more horsepower and weighs about 400lbs less. 11/15/2007 1:39:13 PM |

Bye bye Z06. Yes the Z06 is lighter and more powerful, but it lacks the AWD handling of this car. And lets face it, do you really believe the car has 480hp?? A 350Z with stock internals will put down 425-475hp at the wheels with 10psi.
The GT-R is set to run 10.2 psi. The last GT-R (R34) had "280hp" yet was running quater mile times that cars with 350hp had.

Wow, just wow. Talk about some FanBoi stuff right there. Come on, everyone knows that the engines were underrated in the past when they had that hp "agreement". That agreement has been gone for a while, so they don't underrate their engines.

AWD isn't always great. 280ps was under rated. However, sources say the VR38 can handle much more boost on stock internals with minor bolt ons. I really like this car and the Z06, but would probably end up getting the four seater. 11/16/2007 1:14:13 AM |

Upcoming Bare-boned Nissan GT-R V-Spec Spied
Quote : | "Photos have begun to surface of a mysterious Nissan GT-R traversing the track with several features not to be found on the standard model. Inheriting the tradition of its predecessors, the new GT-R appears set to re-vitalise a lightweight, stripped-out, higher-powered version of the car dubbed Group N or re-introduce the V-Spec version which also enhanced performance.
The images, which first surfaced on GTR-World, show a significantly modified prototype. Prime differences over the production model include a new bonnet air intakes, lowered ride height and a modified front bumper design with no central grille strut, presumably in aid of improved engine cooling during testing. Race-spec alloy wheels and tyres as well as a full roll cage highlight an upped spec.
The V-Spec is essentially a road-legal version of a track car, similar to how the race track-bred Porsche 911 GT3 is positioned relative to the 911 Turbo. The GT-R V-Spec is expected to hit streets in 2009." |

Nobody but really weathy people are going to get them. The cost around $70k + $50k dealership markup = $120k, still outperforms most cars. The dealership is whoring these cars. Some dealerships are going to pull the sticker price off and replace it with "Highest Bidder". 2/1/2008 9:09:55 AM |

Lets say a GT-R is marked up over $120k. What would you rather own?
I mean, performance isn't everything unless you're on the track every day. I have no idea what their resale is, but I'd kill for a Ford GT (didn't they sticker for $150k?) instead.

I would buy it only at sticker price. Hell, I'll probably it used for around $40K, not at $120K. I would rather get a Porsche GT3 for that much. 2/1/2008 2:12:47 PM |

That's 512 hp, and is ~100 kg lighter than the regular car.
Also, for those interested, here you can get the specs of the GT-R GT500 race car:
http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080131.008/nissan-gt-r-gt500-specs-released
Comes with the 4.5 litre engine from the Q45/M45/FX45, with about 500 hp, and weighs just 2,400 lbs.
