I’m a little ignorant about the delegate counting process but I don’t see if somehow Biden dropped out (let’s say he had a stroke or something) why the delegates couldn’t do the respective 2nd place in their states.4/11/2020 9:49:06 PM |

^^^ That's not how that would work at all.
Delegates would vote for whomever they wanted, and since they were chosen by Biden's camp, you'd likely see the nominee be Cuomo or someone rather than Bernie.
Seriously folks, Bernie is done, he's not going to be the nominee. 4/12/2020 6:56:02 AM |

I knew that what was what he was going for, which is why I asked. God damn, that would be a complete dumpster fire.
Obviously, if Biden were to drop out it’d be AFTER he picks a VP and it would already be determined that the delegates would coalesce around that person. 4/12/2020 7:53:02 AM |

Just to clear up my position though,
Biden was never my first pick. If Biden wins, I hope to hell he only does one term and if he runs for a second, I hope he's primary'ed.
For VP, I hope he picks someone in their 40-50s, to the left of him, but with enough executive experience to take over on day 1.
Biden is the nominee and I plan on voting for him. A Trump victory means a 7-2 split on the court for 30 years and I don't want that.
I think anyone who is going to not vote or vote third party out of protest is likely privileged enough to where a 7-2 split and 4 more years of Trump won't affect their life. 4/12/2020 12:19:46 PM |

You don't seem to understand how message boards and basic human memory work. I've argued with you a few times over the past few weeks bc you and I both post here and disagree. Furthermore I've remembered our arguments bc i found yours particularly dumb and felt it was notable that when presented with a solid argument, you disappeared. Finally, when I saw this particular line, I though "hmm wonder how he felt about kavanaugh" at which point it took me 10 seconds to find your posts in the Supreme Court thread. I'm sorry that your intellect rates these things as a massive task of obsession but it's really fairly simple.4/12/2020 12:19:46 PM |

I mean, sexual assault accusations are as bad as it gets. Period. His campaign should respond on the record and with facts.
“Skeletons” are far more subjective. For instance most Bernie fans probably thought Pete working for McKinsey was a skeleton but Bernie’s old writings weren’t. And that’s fine. But subjective and probably the compete opposite of the voting public at large who has no clue what McKinsey even is. 4/12/2020 12:54:08 PM |

Biden wasn’t rammed through, most voters don’t follow things closely and they just felt safer with Biden.
NY Times has their article out. No new information except interns that worked under her recall her leaving abruptly in the Spring, the same time she says the assault happened: https://twitter.com/nycsouthpaw/status/1249362122703855617?s=21

Biden has a podcast he’s been doing and his voice and speech are normal. You have to speed it up 25% but it’s pretty clear Biden is fine except he speaks slowly. He’s clearly not as smart as Bernie or Hillary or Obama, but he’s 1000x more coherent than trump would be on any of these topics.
I think what happens on tv is he tries to talk faster which makes him stumble over his words a lot more. He sounds like an old grandpa at his normal speaking rate but he basically is.

It's going to be a tough balancing act. I think there's definite value in bringing up the whole long, sordid chain of Trump shittiness going back to 2016, just to make people remember the staggering volume of it rather than the latest outrage. He and his team are very good at constantly generating new ones to make you forget the old. But on the other hand, you don't want to elicit exactly ^ this response of, "Why did you have to go all the way back to _______?" (Never mind the fact that impeachment being just a couple of months ago would make it very fresh in any sane universe) 4/14/2020 8:04:34 AM |

The whole point of the ad is to vote to impeach Trump, I think that ship has sailed.
Im fine with all the imagery and discussing the impeachment but seems silly to boost an ad that didn't work. Plus, yea, there is a whole new scandal that people care much more about right now.

So do we think that this dictatorial/totalitarian rant from yesterday's briefing will have an impact, especially if that behavior continues? I bet a lot of Trump's supporters are the same ones who feel that the Civil War was fought over states' rights.
To have a president state that the POTUS has total authority over states/governors would fly in the face of that belief. 4/14/2020 9:31:10 AM |

It will only matter as far as potential value in rallying the Dem base, if anything.
I don't know how you could think that after all trump has done, a press conference comment would turn off a supporter. His base is his base. If you just assume his 44% is locked in and worry about the rest of the voter base, youll waste less mental energy. 4/14/2020 9:36:31 AM |

More like 30%. There are limits for 10% but those limits are extreme. They will almost assuredly vote GOP and just say “well he says mean things and I don’t like it but my Gorsuch.”
Legitimately 5-10% of his 2016 voters would vote against him, most being suburban women. 4/14/2020 10:02:06 AM |
