a lot of damage from the debate could be undone by calls to expand the court

How? You think Biden going out and giving a pointless speech will undo the mess of that debate?

I’m already in the camp that the debate as a whole is ridiculously overrated

he should come out and be forceful about this court being the most radical court of our lifetime and offer solutions on how to change it

not just one speech, either. he’s going to be campaigning. make it the #1 issue.

bonus points if every time he does it he’s much more like the State of The Union version of himself than the debate

Nah, they're not that bad. A moral pity that Trump gets those protections though

I like how the Supreme Court is helping map out the playbook for an authoritarian takeover of the United States.

I guess he's still removable through impeachment if Congress isn't staffed by a bunch of spineless lackeys and if things go totally off the rails.

Yeah. But the real dictatorship I fear is one that doesn't necessarily appear as some huge fascist uprising as people imagine, and that's one the lackeys might happily fall in line for.

They’ve already fallen in line. They’re waiting for marching orders. On its face this Supreme Court ruling is perverse, the dissenting opinion on record calls it a dangerous attack on democracy, legal experts are sounding the alarm as loudly as possible, and MAGA is celebrating that their guy is now unleashed and unchained.

Trump can give any order under the guise of governing necessity, local police or any government agent can carry it out brutally as possible, trump pardons them, and he’s immune by default for the order.

When trump starts the cattle cars and concentration camps for immigrants and transgender people, history will mark this court decision as the beginning of his legal authority to do them.

Thomas had an unusual concurrence on the immunity case that was about the special prosecutor needing to be senate appointed. Apparently he is inviting groups on the right to go through appeals to reach scotus

Hell, I got em one better. Let the Court know that they are next on the list. And ask the question again. Bonus points if he ships Ginni Thomas off to Gitmo and tears down ALito's flag pole while he's at it.

The SCOTUS decision on immunity was a big first step in laying the groundwork for Project 2025.

Pretty sure any unbiased person would think that changes need to be made.

It's crazy to think that when the constitution was written, the average American lifespan was 35 years.
