I'd like to sign a second receiver then; there were plenty out there again, maybe something with keyshawn totally soured richardson on taking chances on free agents in that area because thats the one thing he seems to still refuse to do

^^ I totally agree. With the running game were sure to have, someone with speed would open up the running game as well as the TE passing options. But then again, everything Ive read says Armanti is looking really good, so maybe thats our answer, but I doubt it. Id like to see Malcom Floyd join the crew. Hes big & averaged nearly 20 yards a catch last year. He wants a lot of money, but I think he would help out enough to justify it.

There is also a lot of discussion on getting a CB, which I think we need also, but the market is thin & our pass D was (I believe) 11th last year, but that may have been because our running def was so bad.

Armanti is a good player... I am sometimes surprised at the disdain for him. He didn't ask to be drafted so high. He also was a QB his entire career, not a WR.

At TC on Sunday, I thought he showed some real gusto. He is second quickest on the kickoff behind Goodson. Goodson got in to a fight today at camp. Means nothing, shit happens. Goodson is also sick, and we have 4 threats on the run game. Sutton supposedly is an animal. Not to mention double trouble.

Armanti was a good college player

that didn't translate to the NFL at all

The more deals come in, the more its obvious how grossly we overpaid for Johnson and Williams.

With only having to pay Newton 22, that blow is softened a bit, but it makes you think we should've waited a few days for the market to define itself, rather than going apeshit on Day 1.

I think he would have for sure gone to the Falcons on day 1 had we not overpaid for him

and having him in division would have hurt

I agree about Williams though

i think Johnson could have been overpaid for a little less

only peyton manning has gotten a deal for more money overall, right?

Not sure of the overall contract structure

Football needs a site like NBA and MLB has where you can see every deal broken down for every team

"Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been so impressive in camp that he recently went from throwing passes, to spitting them"

-or-

"After recent issues with his pass accuracy, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton modified his passing style into what he calls 'the loogie method'."

Cam Newton surprised coaches and teammates by lobbing a ball 60 yards down the field AND sprinting fast enough to catch his own pass

Agreed 100%. Analysts mentioned that some over-eager GMs would blow their wads in the FA scramble. Hurney hadn't been allowed to do a deal in years, so when free-agency finally started he went full-retard.

$76 million for Charles Johnson? $43 million for DeAngelo when we had 2 good runners on the roster? The mind boggles...

they wanted to maintain the core of the team, and that's what they thought they had to offer to keep them. i'm alright with it, as long as they win/improve on last season. they had to overpay to keep Johnson from going to ATL (that would be a disaster for the Panthers). Williams may be overpaid, but how healthy will Stewart stay? it's always good to have insurance when you have a rookie QB.

Apparently Mike Goodson got into a tussle with safety Mike Greco after a play. I'm pretty that's the same Mike Greco that we signs to play QB in 2005, but then transferred. I had no idea he switched to safety and was trying to get in the league.
