I like how in one of his defensese, he says something like "The left is trying to silence me, while they burn down buildings and take over entire cities"....

Then in another defense, he keeps bringing up it being taught to school children. But he was clearly stating that he believes transgenderism and homosexuality are "filth" as a whole, not just that it shouldn't be discussed with children.

So many of the GOP are just angry, hate-flled people. And yes, the base loves it, because they are also angry, hateful people.

Ironically I met one of the members that co-signed that letter at UNC last week and also discovered he is the father-in-law of a coworker.

Also the Republican appointed Board of Trustees got into a pissing match with Faculty recently and refused to honor two people selected by the Faculty for an Honorary degree. One was a Trump critic and the other is our local Congresswoman that happens to be a Dem.
