Changing it from implantation to fertilization also kills a good amount of birth control and IVF.

they’re the biggest group of elderly edgelords in the country and they’re tripping over each other to out-evil one another

there is absolutely no surprise in any of this and anyone who has supported the party in the past is complicit

Ectopic pregnancies? Really?

Do the people writing these laws even consult medical professionals?

I worded that comment poorly TGL - I meant to say that Roe v Wade being overturned wouldn't stop people from getting abortions. I just didn't specify all the ways they'd attempt it. I'm not in favor of overturning it, and the idiots who are trying to doing it are only doing it to buy passage into the pearly gates.

I don't understand why anyone would want to ban contraception - just like I don't understand why the Catholic church feels the same way.

Nah it's to control the populace. Almost nobody actually thinks sex for pleasure is a sin, or almost nobody lives like that anyway.

The catholic church is wildly obvious. The more babies there are, the more catholics there are.

I feel like if Romney had won in 2012, we would be seeing a completely different Republican party than what we have today. I really wish the cultists to which Pelosi refers would go and create their own party. The Republicans would never win another major election, but it might get them on the path to restructuring.

I don't think Romney was the turning point. I think if we didn't have hard right wing news media like Limbough and Fox News for nearly 30 years we'd have a different Republican party.

On the other hand, the Christian right movement has been gaining steam since the Reagan administration in particular, plus the Southern Strategy from the Nixon era both play a part as well, so fuck if I know.

I think Limbaugh, Fox News, and the like were definitely the primer, but Romney losing (aka a black man becoming president) was absolutely a huge turning point for a lot of these people.

The black man had already been president four years when Romney lost. I do think Obama winning was a turning point, but that was McCain losing, not Romney.

No, the reason I say Romney is because Obama winning a second term paved the way for Trump.

If Romney had won in 2012, I don't think Trump would have risen to prominence.

^^I disagree. I think ultimately Romney would have been considered yet another RINO that failed to deliver on GOP promises like abortion. I think those failures would've further radicalized the party. Granted, it may have thrown off the timing for Trump to run a successful campaign--Romney would've been the incumbent in 2016, which would be a huge hurdle against Trump, but 2020 might've still been open for him. At any rate, that further radicalization of the party would have opened the door for Trump or some Trump like candidate--maybe even someone more dangerous than trump: a smarter Trump.

WTF TGL...in no way am I blaming Obama for Trump. But even if I did say "Obama paved the way for Trump"....that isn't a statement of blame of fault. It wouldn't be like Obama purposefully made way for MAGA. It wasn't his fault that Trump trumpeted the birth cert stuff.

But to say I'm somehow blaming Obama for Trump via a Romney proxy is just pretty dumb.

I do agree with the take that having a black man elected as President invigorated the extreme right wing folks even more to elect someone like Trump. Had 2008 and 2012 gone to someone like, idk, Jon Edwards, you probably wouldn't have seen Trump. I think Clinton, or any woman, would have had the same effect as Obama.

These people are batshit crazy and the anger of not having a white male elected made people latch onto Alex Jones, Tucker, Hannity, etc even more. The whole birther conspiracy was people getting their feet wet in the insane pool. It's not Obama's fault that these people are fucking morons. It's the GOP's fault for not putting this movement down instead of using dog whistles or just all out supporting these claims (looking at you MTG).

I don't think you can point to an election and say "If only that had gone differently, there'd be no Trumpism." Looking back, it seems obvious that this was the inevitable fate of the Republican Party since at least the Nixon era (and the fate of the conservative-racist streak of American politics going back to at least the Civil War). Sooner or later, they weren't going to be able create the illusion of an ideology bigger than, "Power for us, and own the libs." Trump was just the biggest step towards dropping the pretense altogether.

I mean you could keep going, but it definitely continues the time-honored tradition of psychologically dominating and weaponizing the "white" lower-classes by the Southern Planter Class.

They've had mind control over these people for so long, it really is their heritage.

Just popped in after 10 years to walk through the remains of all the exploded beads

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, [for] the old order has passed away.” - Revelation 21:4

The old order, which condemned scores of millions of innocent babies to death for the crime of being unwanted, unplanned, or inconvenient;

The old order, which condemned mothers to lifelong emotional, psychological, and spiritual scars;

The old order, which condemned loving fathers to irrelevance as they were told that they had no right to save the life of their baby;

The old order of Roe vs. Wade:

The old order has passed away!

I'm seeing tons of memes about women dying from ectopic pregnancies now, and carrying dead fetuses to term...whatever term that is.

I just don't see how, even in these trigger states, that any doctor would let a woman die. I'm pro-choice but I think these memes are disingenuous to the cause.
