FYI, the delay in the race caused the Monday food promotions to be moved to Tuesday. Today you can get free pickle chips at hooters when you buy a drink because Elliott finished in the top 10.

I don't know what the deal is with Southern National. Used to be one of the best tracks in the state. Shit now. Once you get rid of the legends/bandoleros/midget kids classes and the UCAR/anycar junkyard classes, there's nothing left but limited and LMSC, and the car count sucks in those classes. Seems like the track management has run off any serious racers because of inconsistency with the rules, favoritism, etc.

I remember fields of 20+ in street stocks, super stocks, late model stock, and late model sportsman. You'd have 30 cars show up to run the old 4 cylinder class. And they ran every Saturday with packed stands and a truck backed into every single trackside spot. Almost all the drivers were just local guys with regular jobs, even in the upper classes. What happened to grassroots oval asphalt racing? Is it simply the costs that killed it?

they rolled one in the last chance race for the PASS series at Hickory last night

and Scott Riggs' son, Layne, is going to miss the CARS race at Wake County because he crashed his dirt bike and broke his collar bone

i think they need to let some air under the cars. that will keep the lead car from robbing the one behind him of any air at all. they also need to fix the deal where cars can't get beside each other without wrecking. like Keselowski said, race cars should be able to race beside one another.

Wish they could achieve good raving without restrictor plates, but at least they're doing something. I'd prefer to just go to more short tracks.
