Johnston got unlucky in the 3rd...pitches were hitting their spots, but after a leadoff single the next FSU batter hit a comebacker off of Johnston's glove. If he had let it go, it's likely a double play up the middle. Instead it bounces into the runner, who gets called safe. 2 on, no out, both ended up scoring.

We are pretty even in talent with FSU (hence going into extra innings two days in a row), I think the home field advantage has been huge this series, and they've played some great defense while we have not. Both games were winnable so far.

Finally able to close one out, 5-3 win.

Thanks to Duke having a terrible series we're locked in for #3 in the ACC...but we may end up in FSU's pool anyway because Louisville took over the #5 spot.

If Miami wins today we'll be pooled with them. If they lose, it will be FSU.

We got screwed by the weather, Miami/BC game cancelled. Our pool will be #6 FSU and #10 Notre Dame. The other pools are waiting on other games to finish.

The Wake/UVA game is fascinatingly terrible....Wake is up 16-12 in the bottom of the 8th (Wake scored three times this inning on a passed ball, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch). Winner will be #9, loser #11.

UNC is up 6-1, also bottom 8th. If they win, they're #1 over Clemson. They didn't play each other this year so the tie breaker is record vs highest common opponent, which is us. Makes that series hurt even more.

Games 1-4 (Tu/W): 3rd vs 2nd team in each pool
Games 5-8 (W/Th): 1st vs 3rd team in each pool
Games 9-12 (Th/F): 2nd vs 1st team in each pool

If team 2 beats team 3, then the middle set of games will be meaningless, the top team in the pool just has to beat the 2nd team and it's done. If team 3 beats team 2, then the middle games will be the decider and the last set of games will be meaningless.

Might as well just be single elimination where the top 4 teams all get byes and not waste anyone's time (and pitchers) with the extra game.

With 2 outs, McClain walked and Wilson doubled (on the UVA pitcher's 105th pitch...he only stayed in because it's his last game as a senior and this game doesn't matter).

Then Kinneman comes up against the new pitcher and strikes out on three straight pitches. 2 swings on terrible pitchers (just trying to jack it out, didn't even seem like he was looking at the ball), and one called strike on the one pitch he should have swung at.

Meaningless to this tournament, has no point in even being played. Yes it has meaning for national rankings as every game does, but now we have to go out and play the biggest game of the year so far after the demoralizing loss yesterday in a game that didn't need to happen.
