Well, all I remember is that Saul tells Walt that he found him with "his guy" who was the best, but it was a clear message that Walt was gettin sloppy and needed help. He then shows up to help Jesse out with his dead gf where it's implied that he's a former cop. But, I don't remember how that relates exactly to the Gus timeline.

However, I do agree that this show does explain how mike ended up attached to both Gus and Saul.

Question now that I have had more time to think on it. Why did Saul continue to run cons after the initial one with Jeffie? The first one makes sense as it covered his ass if Jeffie tried to blackmail him (if I go down, you go down). He didn’t need the money really— he had a box of diamonds. Was it really just because he liked it? He seems like he’d be smarter than that.

Yeah I don't think it was the money as much as just wanting to be in 'the game.' Going from a wheeling and dealing cartel lawyer to a Cinnabon manager didn't exactly fulfill all of his desires.
