Yes, half of Trump supporters are racists

Not really a fan of anyone running, but this is pretty much how I myself and a lot of people feel.

Quote :
"Trump, on stage, rejected any notion of racism, saying people who want secure borders “are not racists,” people who warn of “radical Islamic terrorism are not Islamophobes” and people who support police “are not prejudiced.” But moments later, he repeated the campaign slogan he borrowed from an anti-Semitic organization that opposed involvement in World War II.

“America First – remember that,” he said. “America First.”"

I still don't see what the problem is with the government following the laws in place. We need to get rid of safe haven cities and deport the illegals that come here. Most of the people who want that aren't racist, they just want people to come here legally at which point they don't really care that they are here. And there is nothing wrong with saying that most terrorist are Muslims because they are. France locked its borders after Paris was bombed. What's wrong with doing that?

Most Muslims aren't terrorists, you can't treat them all like they are. Most racists in the us are white, but it's not right to treat all white people as racists.

The US isn't France, we aren't across a sea from ISIS territory in a war zone. France has a lot of other problems too, its ignorant to make a direct comparison that way.

And from a broader perspective, it's foolhearty to think closing ourselves off from the world is even a successful strategy. There's a reason the America nazis used the phrase "America first" as their slogan. They wrongly thought they were superior to the rest of the worlds people, and could survive alone, either ruling the world with an iron fist, or bullying the world when needed-- neither is a long term strategy.

If trump weren't completely inept and ignorant, he'd realize this. The future of humanity is in cooperation, sealing ourselves off is a sure way to bring failure.

I like how Trump asked a room full of deplorables if they consider themselves as such? Any xenophobes in here? No? I didn't think so.

Just curious, why do you feel this way? Because of taxes or something?

And I think it's pretty disingenuous for you to claim that people don't want them here just because of their "illegal" status. Read any conservative webpage's comment section and you'll see that it's just not the "illegal" status that is the issue. Of course, they'll usually use that as excuse, but there are other reasons why they don't want them here.

Remember when those Islamists terrorized the entire globe through colonization, and then for the next few centuries enslaved people whose skin was darker than a brown paper bag? And then after slavery was abolished, those Islamists used the political, judicial, extrajudicial influence that they had/have to subjugate and oppress those same brown people?

Gosh, Big4Country was right! Who in their right mind would want people like that in their beloved country.

I've got $350 on Hillary on http://www.predictit.com

I'm continuing to add to it; I'll probably put down a lot more, but I'm waiting to see if the odds get less slanted than 4:1.

I didn't want to throw down real money (not $350...thousands) until it's a lock. I'm looking for an essentially guaranteed return of meaningful size, not a speculative high-paying gamble.

It's been pretty much 4:1 no matter how much more bad news piles on for Trump, even as the 538 odds go up to 86-87+ %. It seems like that's a ceiling for now, for the purposes of people actually putting their money down.

...so, I feel like I'm likely to be able to continue to throw in another hundred or two at a time at about the same odds, but I'm hoping that a poll or two comes out, maybe showing Ohio tilting slightly back to pink, or Florida becoming closer or something, that'll move the odds back to 3:1 or even 2.5:1.

I get that you're trying to leverage reality against dumb people, but I don't think you're going to find people that are dumb enough to actually bet money on a Trump win at favorable odds at this point. They're just enthralled to actually have a voice imo.

Quote :

I haven't used that site, but I posted the 538 thing because I figure the favorable odds were when 538 had it at a coin toss or near that.

There are absolutely people who actually think he'll win. They are few and far between, and fewer still have any money to bet to begin with. I'm still gonna try...if I can get a dumbass or two to go even odds, that'll be great, hahaha.

...this isn't leveraging reality against dumb people, exactly. It's people looking to either trade a future dip/spike, or people looking for a big payoff on long odds. I happen to think that the odds are worse for Trump than 80/20. I think it's all but over. He'd have to turn AZ, FL, NC, and OH. Those are all close, but only AZ is a real nail biter. Oh, and he couldn't lose GA, and who knows what the fuck is going on with UT and if that becomes in play.

^ Yeah, I think even odds on Hillary would have been a smart bet even back when 538 was saying that...I wouldn't have really wanted to do more than nibble before it was decided, though. I'm not really a gambler like that. (also, i think predictit has only been about 60/40 even back then).

I kinda look at it as...I buy stocks in positions worth thousands of dollars all the time. If I were to realize a return of 15-20% in a month, I'd be very happy with that. This is like that, except it's almost a predictable guarantee. Crazy shit would have to happen to not win.

so...Wikileaks is one unknown. What they have shown is basically no factor unless you're the fucking Occupy Wall Street, Bernie Sanders crowd...and in fact, helps confirm HRC as a relatively moderate pragmatist, to whatever extent that anyone other than a few political nerds are actually watching and reading.

I guess there is some chance that they're holding some real bomb until closer before the election...but I think they're full of shit...and it would have to be something CRAZY to make a difference, more and more all the time as totally nutty shit piles up against Trump.

Another small concern I have is that maybe Trump is underperforming in polls, because people won't admit to supporting him, but in the voting booth, they still cast a vote for that motherfucker.

^ Oh, going even odds would totally be sharking a dumbass. Big time. I was talking about the shares on predictit.com at 4:1.

Clinton's steepest drop that correlates with a rise in trump's polls was the 2 weeks after the FBI released its email investigation.

If there was any serious dirt on Hillary, it would need to be dropping now to get the polls where they need to be for election day.

Yeah, and there's already cataclysmic dirt on her. Nobody gives a shit—partly because option B is so much worse, partly because they don't understand the issue, and partly for the same reason Trump voters are still with him: a large number of voters are purely partisan no matter WHAT happens.

This is the only way out Trump has. Hoping America is full of closet bigots that agree with him but would never admit it in public for fear of the backlash. There are definitely some of those out there but I dont think its nearly enough to sway the election.

^I've always suspected that I'm the most idiot populist around--the first to join a mob or commit some atrocity just cause a charismatic man told me to. But these people are on a whole other level.

Quote :
"And if Trump doesn’t win, some are even openly talking about violent rebellion and assassination, as fantastical and unhinged as that may seem.

“If she’s in office, I hope we can start a coup. She should be in prison or shot. That’s how I feel about it,” Dan Bowman, a 50-year-old contractor, said of Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee. “We’re going to have a revolution and take them out of office if that’s what it takes. There’s going to be a lot of bloodshed. But that’s what it’s going to take. . . . I would do whatever I can for my country.”

He then placed a Trump mask on his face and posed for pictures."

Quote :
"Trump has recently started encouraging his mostly white supporters to sign up online to be “election observers” to stop “Crooked Hillary from rigging this election.” He’s urging them to act as posses of poll watchers in “other” communities to ensure that things are “on the up and up.”

“Watch your polling booths,” he warned.

His supporters are heeding the call. “Trump said to watch your precincts. I’m going to go, for sure,” said Steve Webb, a 61-year-old carpenter from Fairfield, Ohio.

“I’ll look for . . . well, it’s called racial profiling. Mexicans. Syrians. People who can’t speak American,” he said. “I’m going to go right up behind them. I’ll do everything legally. I want to see if they are accountable. I’m not going to do anything illegal. I’m going to make them a little bit nervous.”"

It's actual quite illegal, given that it's voter intimidation:

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/594

18 U.S. Code § 594 - Intimidation of voters

Whoever intimidates, threatens, coerces, or attempts to intimidate, threaten, or coerce, any other person for the purpose of interfering with the right of such other person to vote or to vote as he may choose, or of causing such other person to vote for, or not to vote for, any candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives, Delegate from the District of Columbia, or Resident Commissioner, at any election held solely or in part for the purpose of electing such candidate, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

(June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 720; Pub. L. 91–405, title II, §?204(d)(5), Sept. 22, 1970, 84 Stat. 853; Pub. L. 103–322, title XXXIII, §?330016(1)(H), Sept. 13, 1994, 108 Stat. 2147.)
