"The official investigation into relations between Donald Trump and Russia now has "specific, concrete and corroborative evidence of collusion", it has been reported.

New evidence proves discussions took place “between people in the Trump campaign and agents of [Russian] influence relating to the use of hacked material,” a source allegedly told the Guardian."

Didnt British intelligence balk at the notion that they spied on Trump just a month ago?

No, they balked at the notion that President Obama asked them to wiretap Donald Trump.

THIS intelligence came from targeting Russian intelligence agents and when they listened to the calls they found out that Donald Trump's friends were all over them.

The allegations overfloweth......

which allegations from Mensch do you want to believe?

- That Putin had Andrew Breitbart assassinated and replaced with his mole, Bannon?
- that Anthony Weiner was set up by the KGB and not actually sexting a 15 year old, and the Hillary emails were planted on his computer?
- that Ferguson riots were funded by the Kremlin?
- that the FBI issued a FISA warrant against the Trump campaign directly?
- that Obama should have declared war against Russia before leaving office?
- or that her self-admittance to hard drug use in the nineties causing damage to her brain is true?

The last point seems to make sense of the other claims.

I WANT to believe all of them lol. The Ryan-McConnell links from the palmer report (different dude but similiar tweets) especially.

I recognize that my pre-conceived notions are informing how I absorb these Trump-Russia allegations. So it's a constant battle between "ARREST THESE FUCKS ALREADY!!!!" and something way less biased and hysterical.

Sounds like the FBI took that dossier seriously.

Quote :
"Officials familiar with the process say even if the application to monitor Page included information from the dossier, it would only be after the FBI had corroborated the information through its own investigation. The officials would not say what or how much was corroborated."

There it is. Exxon requesting a waiver on Russia sanctions.

I really hope Exxon executives are somehow implicated in treason. God knows their dream is for America to become a petro-state oligarchy just like Russia.

I know short of Putin holding a press conference saying he did it there will still be people who think Russia had NO desire to impact our election but this Reuters link seems pretty clear.

Heard an interview with the writer this morning about this. So it seems Russian involvement is basically a forgone conclusion, now we just need the concrete evidence that Trump was involved, or at least was knowledgeable and complicit.

Which is probably not true and even if it was, is probably nearly impossible to prove.

Certainly some in his circle likely worked to undermine a sitting administration (Manafort and Flynn) with regard to Russia policy and the UN criticism of Israel (Kushner) but that may be unethical but not sure about anything else.

The real issue is, if I remember correctly, you can't use classified information to prosecute.

Can they claim executive privilege for actions that occurred before inauguration?

Also, any decent coverup would have thrown Flynn under the bus at this point. Not only has Flynn offered to flip, but what we know from the media suggests there is already enough evidence to indict him on some charges. The point being: if the whitehouse had documents on Flynn wouldn't they release them to show Flynn lied to the whitehouse as well, and thus the whitehouse is in no way complicit? Instead they are trying to stonewall and the reason is clear, a number of people (including Pence and Trump) already knew of Flynn working as a foreign agent and the documents support that notion.

I'm trying to be a bit open minded but I do have to ask - the Lynch email that Grassley asked about, does that actually exist somewhere? The email he said mentioning Lynch promising not to investigate Clinton.

You'd think the justice dept would authorize him to confirm it if it were real. Sessions and trump aren't above scoring political points over an investigation.

^^^ I disagree. You don't talk about an ongoing investigation and that's fine. He wasn't a confidential letter to Chaffetz to update on reopening an investigation and Chaffetz ran to the media. That's why any concern about leaks from the right is hirseshit.

^^ which doesn't even make sense because she was already being fucking investigated.

http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/04/23/new-report-reveals-why-jim-comey-acted-the-way-he-did-during-fbis-investigation-into-hillary-clinton/

Quote :
"For example, during a fall 2015 meeting between Lynch, Comey and Comey’s team of advisers, Lynch instructed Comey to no longer use the word “investigation” when publicly talking about the FBI’s investigation into Clinton. Instead, Lynch suggested Comey use the word “matter.”"

Quote :
"In addition, just one day after announcing they had received a criminal referral in regards to the FBI’s investigation against Clinton, Lynch’s DOJ revised a public statement to retract the word “criminal.” The DOJ revised their statement to say they received a referral “related to the potential compromise of classified information” — no mention of anything criminal."

Quote :
"Later, Comey’s suspicions deepened when the FBI intercepted a document that potentially proved Lynch’s allegiance to Clinton.

From the Times:

During Russia’s hacking campaign against the United States, intelligence agencies could peer, at times, into Russian networks and see what had been taken. Early last year, F.B.I. agents received a batch of hacked documents, and one caught their attention.

The document, which has been described as both a memo and an email, was written by a Democratic operative who expressed confidence that Ms. Lynch would keep the Clinton investigation from going too far, according to several former officials familiar with the document…

If Ms. Lynch announced that the case was closed, and Russia leaked the document, Mr. Comey believed it would raise doubts about the independence of the investigation."

Interesting.

** I think WL is highly corrupted but a DoJ deciding what is journalism and what isn't is... scary.

^I think DOJ is deciding what breaking the law is and what isn't. In that respect, leaking classified information is criminal. And I suppose you could make a distinction between journalism and journalist companies and Wikileaks.

In terms of who determines what is journalism and isn't, I'd argue that's more on us and what we pressure our representatives to protect via enacting laws.
