the moral dilemma of knowing it needs to be done but not being able to because of our morals and rules.

i'm sure the writers are influenced by current events as well

the difference being that in 24 we know jack is doing what he has to do and approve of it, whereas in smallville the writers REALLY want us to be against it. i don't think the audience really is though

They do, but not immediately. Thursday shows usually go online either Sunday or Monday, and the Monday shows are usually up Wed. or Thursday for example.

Yeah they advertised it like he was gonna fly this time to get our hopes up but alas, nothing. So even if he jumps out of a plane while holding her, I don't quite see how that would stop her from getting hurt... she is still decelerating from terminal velocity to zero in a manner of like 5 feet.

For all we know, his latent flying skills kicked in on the way down and softened the impact.

It's a silly thing to really get caught up about.

^ i disagree. they totally hyped that episode up for that very reason and then completely abandoned what happened after he jumped out of the plane. it was as if the writers didn't know how to explain the sequence so they just completely left it out of the episode. if you're going to advertise an episode based on one particular sequence and then completely abandon it come air time, it's reasonable to express disappointment
