My three premises:

1. Contraceptives are not 100 percent reliable.
2. We all have a right to get laid.
3. We all have a right to reproduce or not to reproduce.

I don't want to raise a child or endure a pregnancy, but birth control is not always effective. Are pro-lifers proposing that I shouldn't have sex?

Is that the argument???

Weird...

^Totally agreed. I read an article about this dude who was making $14/week after child support was automatically deducted from his weekly check. He worked as a full-time garbage man in NYC.

I have even heard of MARRIED women who stop taking birth control without telling their horny husbands. Shit ain't right.

Eh the way I see it I'd be ok for making the compromise that during the third trimester its too late.

Otherwise the issue is dominated by hardcore right wing religious nutcases who won't rest until we form a theocracy, not so say the hardcore left wing hippies are innocent either.

I mean I don't understand why the hell everyone makes such a big deal out of abortion. There are so many other things you can put your time and energy into. I guess I'm part of the silent majority.

they just want you to face consequences for your pleasurable choices.

i cant drink and drive without fear of consequence

i cant even speed without fear of consequence

i cant detonate explosive devices without fear of consequence

why should you get to have sex without fear of consequence?

I don't really think sex belongs in that group.

I can't eat strawberries without fear of consequence.

Or maybe you were being subtley sarcastic, I can't tell.

i don't think they are saying don't have sex. i think they are saying if you are going to, you should be responsible for your actions. If you have sex, you know that there is a chance of getting pregnant, even if you're careful, everyone knows that, so take responsibility.

clearly it is. instead of bringing a person into the world when they would not have an ideal environment, the 'mother' chooses to wait until she is better suited to bring a life into the world.

that sounds very responsible to me... more so than shitting out 20 kids and living on welfare.

then plan for adoption if you are not able to take care of the child. There are a BAJILLION couples that want babies and can't have them. I'm sure they would appreciate you letting the child live in their care rather than killing a bunch of babies until you feel like you're ready for one.

it's not killing a baby. it's preventing a group of cells from becoming a baby.

and if adoption was so perfect, where are there millions of children living in orphanages today?

most people don't have abortions right after the baby was conceived....therefore once the cells have divided and the heart starts beating...i believe that is a life, not a bunch of cells. I didn't say that adoption was perfect. Older kids usually don't get adopted, but couples that look for an adoptive family during pregnacy are almost 100% guaranteed to find one.

i think part of it has to do with the adoption process

couples have to go through so many damn issues before someone decides whether or not they can have a child...i think that needs to be changed too

Eh everyone can have their opinion on it. I don't think its killing babies, and I'm not sure at what stage the heart starts beating anyways.

Its when people want their opinion to become law that I get pissed off. If you think abortion is wrong, don't do it AND DON'T FUCK PEOPLE WHO WOULD GET ONE.

so, you don't like murder, so don't murder, but wouldn't you appreciate it if the person who enjoys murder had consequences for doing so?

abortions are not cheap, so there are some consequences.

but why would you want a child being born whose parents do not want it?

you do realize that pro-lifers are for the most part all conservative christians
and for the most part they believe sex should be contained within the bonds of marriage

so yes

they are proposing, based on their interpretation of their Holy Book, that you should not have sex

You make a baby, you deal with the consequences. You don't want to deal with the consequences, stop whoring yourself out to every erection that you see.

Thank you come again.

rabble rabble rabble

Seriously though, I like how people who don't agree with cutting a growing baby out of a mother's womb are considered "extremists". I think abortion sums up the American attitude very well: people are "entitled" and have a "right" to what makes them happy, and anything that gets in the way should be easily discarded with government approval.

Cutting a baby out of a womb is different than taking a pill to terminate an early pregnancy.

Extremists don't see a difference.

People poisons their own lives every fucking day by eating from McDonalds. Its their choice whether to do so or not. If a women is pregnant and smokes and the kid comes out retarded, do we jail her for abuse?

I guess thats the difference. I don't think anybody looks forward to abortions and I can't imagine having to make that kind of choice, but I believe people should have the choice. Its fine if you think its immoral, wrong, whatever just don't try to legislate it.

Thats too objective for something like pregnancy. Newsflash, what a women does and puts into her body affects EVERYTHING growing in it. Bitch could eat cheesburgers all day and have one helluva unhealthy baby, or even kill it that way. DO WE JAIL HER FOR MURDER?

So who are you to tell a woman she can't swallow a pill which fucks with her hormones?

Next thing you know we'll have government laws about what pregnant women can eat

So women who give birth to crack addicted babies and babies with fetal-alcohol syndrome should be let off scott free and receive no punishment for harming another human being?

They haven't really hurt another human being. It's not a human being until it's born. Kind of like how an egg isn't a chicken untill the chicken comes out. When I break an egg I'm not killing a chicken, I'm breaking a egg.
