Beilein would bring the same strengths and flaws Herb brought to the program. Not a good move IMO.

personally i want jay wright, but i don't see that happening

I thought his signing the contract extension would take him out of the running, but Bill Self had recently signed on for another 5 years at Illinois prior to taking the Kansas job. (info from this article)
http://espn.go.com/ncb/news/2003/0420/1541578.html

If somehow we did get Jay Wright, we should be able to get Chris Wright to recommit which would also be a plus.

For me, those are some huge names to toss out there and the chances are so slim.

Barnes should be the #1 guy, its a long shot but still.

#2, imo, should be Billy Gillespe at Texas A&M, he has been mentioned but I think he is underrated and deserves some more attention. Problem: he is a texas boy, and while he isnt an alumnus of A&M he was born, raised, and attended college in Texas.

^ remember the whole deal with USC last year?

people id interview:

-john beilein
-nolan richardson (but you racist fucktards would run him off)
-mark few

ah hell, i cant think of anyone else realistic that has major conference experience or consistent tourney success that we might be able to get...unless mike montgomery gets fired at Golden State, things dont look good.

I'm hearing Mike Montgomery's name thrown around a lot lately

yeah, its not like hes beaten any quality opponents with it. all teams that run that offense suck

you people think we're going to get rick barnes and beat duke and unc and not be #3 in NC. we'll always be #3 in NC, but maybe, just maybe, we can snag a guy that will win us the occasional ACC title and get us to the sweet 16 regularly.

I'm being realistic.

no team that has run that offense has won a national title. It is an offense you run when you do not have athletic players. We have athletes. It's time to get away from it.

^no to that too.

FUCK NO. That nigger would run himself off without any help from us.

However, I do think we should try to get a black coach. It might give us a recruiting edge vs Duke and UNC.

No to Mike Davis. He is a walking talking coaching quagmire.

Also, If Nolan is such a good coach, why has he been unemployeed for so many years now?

From what I'm hearing.... and take this with a grain of salt.....but rumors from people I know that do get 12th hand info from those close to the program sometimes (Ha, in other words take it to the bank! )

1) Barnes is willing to talk, but only if we're willing to talk with at least $1.5 mil in our pockets to start with. Supposedly, we're not willing to cough that up.

2) Guys who are going, pondering, or already have applied for the position (They gave a list of about 35... but here are some we know of and sounded like our man would be in this list.) Maybe I forgot some... feel free to ask if I've missed anyone, maybe I'll remember the name then

- Mike Montgomery
- Billy Gillespie
- Gregg Marshall
- Guy from Dayton (Izzo disciple I think, can't think of a name?)
- UConn assistant everyone has been talking about... name?
- (Larry?) Shyatt... ahahaha... I couldn't get over that one
- Dave Odom .... ahaha again
- Bill Self (Believe it or not, which I didn't, the name was mentioned due to pressure at KU)
- Dana Altman
- A few unnamed pro assistants, formerly in the college ranks (Couldn't figure out who the guy was talking about on this one?)
- Larry Hunter
- Mike Davis

That's all I can recall. It seems like I'm missing a few big names, but for right now, that's all I can remember. From what I understand, we have contacted Montgomery and he is reciprocating interest. From that list, he's my #1

Nolan Richardson's niggitude has nothing to do with his coaching and everything to do with the stupid comments he made leading up to his dismissal.

Fuck that guy.

Also, as if it goes without saying.... I'm sure we're contacting Calipari, and maybe even Wright.

I wouldn't expect any of those were too realistic... especially not Wright. Calipari, maybe.... but probably not likely we will get into a possible bidding war with OU

Again, that's coaches who have willingly applied and asked for the position (Or at least have openly talked to us about it). I'm not sure if our #1-5 guys are up there.... these are just the ones who are interested.

Trust me, Shyatt won't get called back

and if you think the uprising about Herb was bad, if Huggins was here, he'd be fired in his first week.

Montgomery would be one hell of a hire, now that I remember who he is.

But he has lived in CA all his life. Would he want to come to NC?
