This is the official GTR thread, and I will keep it going till its official debut, which is not far away (in October at the Tokyo Show).
Amazing new development:

Nissan GTR Scans Surface
Quote : | "Whether the images are photochops or not, the Nissan GTR is going to be hot. The standard GTR will be priced at roughly $57k, the V SPEC $67k and the EVO version $94k. The standard GTR and V SPEC will hit the 480hp while the EVO reaches 530hp from the VQHRTT engine and weighs in at 220lbs less than the standard GTR. " |
From above, and the text in the pics below, we get the following:
GTR & GTR V-Spec:
480 hp 460 lb-ft 0-60 mph in 3.6 sec $57,000 & $67,000
GTR Evo:
530 hp 0-60 mph in 3.4 sec (my guess) $94,000

nice. I wonder how it'll do against the M3. 5/10/2007 2:18:43 PM |
0EPII1 All American 42541 Posts user info edit post |
1) It is not competition for the M3 class-wise, price-wise, or even perfromance-wise. Of course, it will slaughter it.
2) Price-wise, it can compete with the M5 (but still not class-wise or performance-wise), and will slaughter it too.
3) This is competiton for the F430, Z06, 911 Turbo, Gallardo, SLR, Audi R8, Viper, etc.
4) Also for upcoming BMW Z10, NSX, Supra.

^are you serious? the new z06 will walk the dog with most if not all of those cars. i won't even get into the blue devil/ss coming out.
the ONLY thing it might lack is the status symbol, but even that is purely opinion considering corvette's rich american history.
it's a damn bargain financially also.

In performance it has every right to be there. Like i mentioned earlier. vs a ferrari its basically the difference between a machete and a samurai sword they'll both cut stuff with ease... one just cost a ton more and does it with a little more finesse. 5/10/2007 4:06:52 PM |

Quote : | "$57K is about the M3 price." |
Yes, you are right... I was thinking about the Evo for some reason. The new M3 is expected to be $60K-$65K, so the base GTR and the V-Spec GTR are both around the M3's price.
But of course, it will absolutely slaughter the M3. If it can do 0-60 mph in 3.6 sec, and the new M3 is expected to do it in 4.5 sec, then the GTR will kill it in any aspect of performance, whether straight-line, or in the bends.

ditch the changes to the wing, the extra vents, the dimples, I guess pretty much everything that was added via photoshop, and it looks pretty good, but ya gotta be amazed at just how many spy photos have been taken of the gtr:
Results 1 - 18 of about 4,120 for "nissan gtr spy photos". (0.30 seconds) http://images.google.com/images?q=nissan%20gtr%20spy%20photos&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
...especially considering how minute the changes have been since:
the 2005 GT-R proto http://www.supercars.net/cars/3207.html or even since the 2001concept before that (I really liked this one): http://www.supercars.net/cars/1386.html
I think everyone has a pretty good idea of what it looks like now. Nissan, you might as well take the front end disguise off. 5/11/2007 12:24:52 PM |

Honda is going to come out with the NSX at Tokyo in October, and so will Nissan with the GTR... so it will be FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!
Toyota has the Lexus LF-A confirmed, but that's gonna be 100K. Toyota has confirmed the FT-HS according to some rumors, and some say it is the new Supra, while some say the Supra will be separate.
(FT-HS: http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/toyota_ft-hs.asp)
I wish Toyota had put into production the Alessandro Volta Concept. Absolutely stunning:
http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/toyota_volta.asp
Mazda needs to make an RX-7 with the quickness.
And Mitsu needs to make a new 3000GT as well.
And Nissan REALLY needs to make a turboed 350Z making about 400 hp and costing 40K. That would slot in nicely between the base 350Z and the base GTR. And also, today's top Nissan sportscar, i.e., the 350Z, makes the same power as a decade ago's top Nissan sportscar, i.e., the 300ZX TT. So a more powerful trim is imperative. And it can steal sales from a few other makes as well. 5/26/2007 9:40:12 PM |

unless honda comes out with a v8 (yeah right) or a FI V6 like the GTR, i dunno how much competition there will actually be. the previous NSX was a great performer, but it was severely lacking in the power department. i really didn't mind that the interior was taken out of a 95 accord , b/c the rest of the car flowed so well together.
i wonder why i haven't seen spy pics of the NSX as much as the GTR if it is indeed going to be released in october for the show.5/26/2007 11:26:29 PM |

try a 5.5L V10 on the NSX here's a couple articles. keep i mind they dont have the set exterior for it yet. so on the 'ring theyre using a chopped up S2000

i have wondered that too, because it takes time to develop a body and test it. testing an engine in another body is not enough.
but have a look at this:
http://www.leftlanenews.com/report-honda-back-to-the-drawing-board-for-new-nsx.html
Quote : | "When Honda unveiled the Advanced Sports Car Concept earlier this year, it said the vehicle was a direct preview of the 2008 Acura NSX. Typically automakers don't say which future production cars ambiguously named concepts are supposed to represent, but Honda officials had no problem disclosing their intentions for this project.
Now it appears the car might be headed back to the drawing board.
Although it wasn't slammed by the automotive press or enthusiasts, the concept didn't get rave reviews, either. It turns out Honda executives were hoping for something more breathtaking, too. As a result, they've asked the design team to rethink their plans, according to a report by Winding Road magazine.
While the basic proportions, V10 engine, and all-wheel-drive will stay, the rest of the package will likely change before production begins in early 2008. Look for the production version of the new NSX will arrive at the Tokyo Motor Show this fall." |
And also:
Quote : | "Aside from matching BMW's feat of squeezing 500 horsepower from a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V10, Honda has set an ambitious goal of achieving 23.5 mpg from the engine that will power its new Acura NSX." |
Here is the Advanced Sports Car Concept:
(looks a bit bland to me, esp from the front and front 3/4 view. somewhat like a corvette, but not in a good way. from the back i don't know what the hell kind of futuristic look is going on.)
http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/acura_ascc.asp
I quite like the HSC Concept from 3 years ago, except for the inverted B-pillars. This would look great as the new NSX, but maybe the design looks a bit dated now. It would have been awesome as the new NSX if the new NSX came out 3 years ago.

[quote]I quite like the HSC Concept from 3 years ago, except for including the frickin sweet inverted B-pillars. This would look great as the new NSX, but maybe the design looks a bit dated now since it is clearly close to the old NSX shape and retains its proportions while still offering a fresh shape. It would have been awesome as the new NSX if whetherthe new NSX out 3 years ago or takes another decade to show up, just so long as they don't build that bizarre front-engined corvette-looking ASCC and try to pass it off as an NSX. 5/27/2007 8:03:04 AM |
