Clausen played behind a terrible O-line who could not protect the QB or block for our running game. He had very little consistency from our WR core and he was a rookie. Cut the guy some fucking slack. As long as the Panthers have Hurney and Richardson running the show, the Panthers will continue to be a laughing stock. They don't spend money in the right places, they don't value key positions, and they are flat out retarded when it comes to make good draft decisions.

We've had plenty of horrible years.

1995 - 7-9
1996 - 12-4
1997 - 7-9
1998 - 4-12
1999 - 8-8
2000 - 7-9
2001 - 1-15
2002 - 7-9
2003 - 11-5
2004 - 7-9
2005 - 11-5
2006 - 8-8
2007 - 7-9
2008 - 12-4
2009 - 8-8
2010 - 2-14

[Edited on April 27, 2011 at 4:10 PM. Reason : I wouldn't call five 7-9 seasons good by any means. ]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Carolina_Panthers_seasons

Out of 16 years, I'd say we've had 6 good ones. The four playoff years, 1995, and 1999.

The rest have been average or worse.

So we're at least decent 37.5% of the time

Awesome

you're really going to use 1995 as an example of a bad year?

9 losing seasons in 16 seasons is pretty pathetic.

by that measure, Moore will have a good chance to get the starting job back.

nothing really

I was just pointing out that hoping our team will be decent under Hurney and Richardson is absolutely pointless.

Hurney has no idea what the hell is doing and Richardson sounds like he's downed about 2 pints of whiskey every time he speaks.

As long as they are around, the Panthers are doomed. This has caused me to realistically only watch Chargers games.

Cool, I'd take a team I only follow because I like the quarterback over the team I grew up watching for the past 16 years too

Richardson should have sent Hurney out of town with Fox

Rarely post in here, but every time I look at the draft order, I ask what special breed of asshole trades a 2nd rounder for Armanti Edwards

I didn't grow up watching the Panthers.

The only football I followed was the 49ers because of Joe Montana and the Bears (Walter Payton, The Fridge, and Mike Singletary). I loved watching Inside the NFL back in the late 80s and early 90s. The recaps of the games were done in a way like they were short documentaries or something. I loved it.

I didn't start watching the Panthers until about 2001 or 2002 and even then I wouldn't call myself a huge Panther fan. I've never really had a favorite team but I like the Chargers because PRiv is there and they are exciting to watch UNLIKE the Panthers. I just generally like the sport but don't really have a favorite team. I watch a lot of games but mainly the Chargers.

So your attempt at being a dickbag is not going to work on me.

so according to espn they've narrowed it down to newton, peterson, dareus, and green. apparently richardson invited newton to his house and was impressed

even ignoring the fact that newton has thrown barely any passes compared to the others, how many passes against real coverages has he thrown? I mean you've got to take in to account that when you're running up and down the field on guys at will it's going to make your passing game about 60% easier, drafting newton is like taking a high school player basically which does work out some times in the nba but damn

I'd love for the Panthers to take a chance on AJ Green...Panthers definitely need WR help. But I think they'll end up taking Newton. Newton is going to sell tickets and bring hype...

Not saying that Newton is gonna be a star although I think in a few years he will be a good NFL QB, but I like all the people that act like the other draft candidates who have also never played a down in the NFL are somehow "not risky" picks. And I realize QB has the biggest learning curve in the transition, but people act like Petersen or Dareus are locks to be pro bowlers as rookies

If Petersen gets drafted by an AFC team he could have a great 10 year career and never make a Pro Bowl

I think completion percentage and accuracy are what you have to look at in order to project an NFL QB. Windows are much smaller in the NFL, and you need the accuracy to make the throws.

If we draft Newton, it's so we can get the #1 pick next year to get Luck.

If we want Luck next year, the best bet is for Clausen to start

I would bet a large sum of money on the impossible-to-prove hypothetical that Newton would win us more games than Clausen next year, even if it was just 1 or 2 more wins

If the Panthers did have the #1 overall, somebody would be willing to give a whole heap of draft picks to take either Luck or Barkley, would serve this franchise well to accept all those picks and build a team around Newton

^^how do you know that?

I've been pretty impressed with his interviews and workout footage that I've seen. His segment on the Jon Gruden QB Camp was great. The dude is a proven championship winner, and has been on two separate levels in the two years coming into the draft.

Just go back and watch/remember Auburn's game against Alabama this year, when Cam put the entire team on his back and won the game. I remember thinking during that game that there is not a single player in the country even close to the leader that he is.

I think he's as good of a pick as we could make in this draft - on par with Patrick Peterson and Von Miller in my mind

I just came in here to post that I could care less about the Panthers. I cheer for them the majority of the time. But there are maybe 7-10 teams I like better than the Panthers. I also think Newton will be a horrible pick.

Carry on.
