I wouldn't feed that shit to a dog. Most disappointing bbq ever. The mac and cheese and hush puppies kicked ass, though.

The best I've had anywhere near Raleigh was McCalls in Clayton.

You're buddy is retarded.

There is no comparison.

What the hell are you talking about? A BBQ plate costs $8 at lunch and $12 at dinner with two sides, hush puppies, and a biscuit.

everyone ITT, do yourself a favor and never go to Wilson for BBQ, if you haven't already

it will ruin any other BBQ west of I-95

The Pit is too chopped up for me, b. It's almost like bbq paste, like you get on the Cookout BBQ sandwiches. Parker's is where it's at, g.

I'm one of the few around here that seem to enjoy Danny's. It's a little on the dry side, but their hot bbq sauce is an excellent remedy.

Y'all needed to go to The Pit at lunch when their prices are reasonable.

I want to try The Pig in Chapel Hill.

Paste? Really?

Now you are just being ridiculous.

You do know they have pulled pork right?

That is 100% false. I know 2 of the cooks there and they do not do this. They bring in pigs every day. Some are cooked on site and some are cooked elsewhere and brought in whole.

[Edited on June 1, 2011 at 12:19 PM. Reason : Coopers is damn good also.]

The Pig actually has my favorite BBQ in the Triangle. It's a little sweeter than what you get in Wilson but still smoky and has good texture. Get the sprouts 'n' shrooms and hushpuppies for your sides.

Hm I only went to The Pit the one time; I thought I got pulled pork but maybe I somehow ended up with the chopped. Either way I was not a huge fan of whatever it was. The brunswick stew was lackluster as well. SORRY

narrow window of acceptable BBQ is inside of box, with sides being made by I-95, US 264, NC 42 and US 301

Lol, obviously kidding, western sucks. Backyards was extremely greasy and had huge chunks of fat. Not my cup of tea.

They had a two face bartender who was hot from the entrance but not so much up close. Had huge pores and Van Gundy eye bags.

I love Stephenson's BBQ out near McGhee's Crossroads in Garner/Clayton and Smithfield's BBQ (probably my favorite). Danny's BBQ is right across from my job, so I decided to try and I gotta say it was terrible. Not a fan at all. Also, if you like Cookout's BBQ.....might as well kill yourself. LOL

Which Danny's BBQ are we talking about here? The one with three locations, two in Cary (Lochmere and Park Place) and one in RTP?

I didn't even think he had a true eastern style sauce.

^^^^ I've been meaning to try B's and Pete Jones for years. When I was growing up Parker's was God. Wilbur's and King's were allowable if we happened to be in Goldsboro/Kinston (as long as it wasn't the Sabath ).

I want to be able to tell my friend he's an idiot, so cast your vote for The Pit or Smithfields, but remember we're only talking about the pork bbq here

Side note, I haven't had the pit bbq in a while (typically only whenever I go to Raleigh times), but I had coopers today for lunch and while it was quite tasty, I have fonder memories of the pit's pork.
