What the hell are you talking about? A BBQ plate costs $8 at lunch and $12 at dinner with two sides, hush puppies, and a biscuit.

That is 100% false. I know 2 of the cooks there and they do not do this. They bring in pigs every day. Some are cooked on site and some are cooked elsewhere and brought in whole.

The Pig actually has my favorite BBQ in the Triangle. It's a little sweeter than what you get in Wilson but still smoky and has good texture. Get the sprouts 'n' shrooms and hushpuppies for your sides.
Hm I only went to The Pit the one time; I thought I got pulled pork but maybe I somehow ended up with the chopped. Either way I was not a huge fan of whatever it was. The brunswick stew was lackluster as well. SORRY

I love Stephenson's BBQ out near McGhee's Crossroads in Garner/Clayton and Smithfield's BBQ (probably my favorite). Danny's BBQ is right across from my job, so I decided to try and I gotta say it was terrible. Not a fan at all. Also, if you like Cookout's BBQ.....might as well kill yourself. Side note, I haven't had the pit bbq in a while (typically only whenever I go to Raleigh times), but I had coopers today for lunch and while it was quite tasty, I have fonder memories of the pit's pork.]6/1/2011 12:48:37 PM |
