Mitt Romney now running hard with obamas off the cuff comment "go vote for revenge" which was in response to people upset about the GOP campaign add that deliberately lies about the auto industry. And yes, I think that America is dumb enough to fall for it.

They fell for voting for a guy with absolutely no business, executive or leadership experience (in the primary and then in the general) to lead the nation out of "the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression."

And then they convinced themselves that he needs more time.

I will believe anything about the stupidity of people in large groups.

I don't get the ignorance with that. Pull up any poll on earnings, the stocks, or unemployment and u will see a sudden collapse followed by a steady rebound.

The streets would be literally paved with gold if anyone other than Obama were president. Instead we've been shackled and dragged into a new world order socialist asphalt paving regime.

It amazes me so many can't see how communist this wannabe Hitler really is.

I don't get the ignorance with believing we were successfully "pulled through it".

That's not just ignorance, that's willfully ignoring several economic indicators. That's the stuff you'll only see spewed by a partisan shill.

and, i should clarify before you have a clinched fist Rachel Maddow-esque meltdown that i'm not saying that it's entirely his fault.... but i'm saying he's absolutely shit the fucking bed in his attempts to 'fix' things.

By what measure has he "shit the fucking bed" according to you? Unemployment? Job creation? Stock market? Corporate profits? Or do you just "feel" someone else would have a done a better job? Someone who isn't black, perhaps?

And yes, I am unambiguously calling you a fucking racist.

The hell I'm not, and I wish our media wouldn't be such pussies and call out Obama's critics for what they are. Look, if you disagree with Obamacare, fine. If you think we shouldn't have passed financial regulations, ok. Think passing things like the lily ledbetter act, cutting private banks out student loans, and additional fuel standards were bad ideas? That's totally ok. But just screaming "look at how poor of a job he did" despite all evidence to the contrary, is just code for "get that nigger out of white house". Period.

Wow....

So, most of America is racist? Because his economic approval rating is near rock bottom, hovering in the 30% range since mid-summer. (note, not overall job approval rating, but how he's handled the economy).

I disagree with how he handled a myriad of things, starting with the auto bailouts. He "prevented a depression" is fucking hilarious. Bush and Paulson had already put TARP in place (which I disagreed with), and Obama continued down that road. The 2009 stimulus was all on his shoulders, and it did not work.... at all. He funneled money to American automakers at the great expense of other auto manufacturers and the American public. He inherited a AAA credit rating for the nation, and lost it. The prices of fuel and food have skyrocketed during his term. His misery index rating is comparable to Carter's. Unemployment has been at 8% for his entire term (two recent reports withstanding... if you wanna out that .1% drop, I hear ya). Deficits have increased every year he's been in office. The stock market looks good, but that's because it's being propped up by the QE III policies of he and Bernanke, meaning it's a house of cards.

I say he shit the bed because he did nothing but continue Keynesian policies, and I disagree with that approach and school of thought.

I am not a Republican, nor am I a racist, but I will not be voting for him. The whole "you're a racist if you criticize this president" bullshit is hilarious.

When someone's position is that the crash both wasn't really that bad and also was so terrible and Obama hasn't done anything about it, both at the same time, how the hell are you even supposed to start responding to such a logically incongruous position?

The thing is that in politics you have "facts" and you have scientific analysis. Now facts is in quotations because they can be heavily biased. But critical analysys, scientifically speaking, is less suspect or prone to bias.

The gop has done their fair share of throwing facts around hazardly about the economy, but several analyses regarding earnings, unemployment and the market in general point to a favorable rebound since the recession. Now, on the other hand, saying that we have more ppl unemployed than in the great depression (which I actually haven't fact checked) may be true, it horribly misrepresents other factors and is an irrelevant point.

Why?

Quote :
"He "prevented a depression" is fucking hilarious. Bush and Paulson had already put TARP in place (which I disagreed with), and Obama continued down that road. The 2009 stimulus was all on his shoulders, and it did not work.... at all."

By what measure did it not work at all? Immediately after the stimulus went into effect, the freefall stopped and we've been recovering ever since. Was that just coincidence?

Quote :
"He funneled money to American automakers at the great expense of other auto manufacturers and the American public. He inherited a AAA credit rating for the nation, and lost it."

Holy shit. Misleading statement at best, a completely load of bullshit at worst.

Quote :
"The prices of fuel and food have skyrocketed during his term. His misery index rating is comparable to Carter's. Unemployment has been at 8% for his entire term (two recent reports withstanding... if you wanna out that .1% drop, I hear ya)."

Clearly this has nothing to do with the giant recession that he inherited. How can you pretend that you aren't being willfully ignorant of the circumstances when you say shit like this?

Quote :
"Deficits have increased every year he's been in office. The stock market looks good, but that's because it's being propped up by the QE III policies of he and Bernanke, meaning it's a house of cards."

And this is why every single economist is saying that the underpinnings of our economy are currently as strong as they've ever been, and whoever is President for the next four years is likely to see anywhere from 12 million to 17 million new jobs created.

Quote :
"I am not a Republican, nor am I a racistbut I will not be voting for him. The whole "you're a racist if you criticize this president" bullshit is hilarious."

Maybe not, I don't know you. But you are a fucking idiot, which is trait shared by yourself and racists.

and if you want to talk about things not being as good as they could, you have to acknowledge Republican actions like the debt ceiling hostage situation that killed our momentum and took away a lot of the gains that preceded it (but you know, got to get rid of Obama at any cost)

Obama’s America: How the misery index is at one of its highest levels for 28 years

Quote :
"In fact since the Obama Administration took office in 2009, the Misery Index has been steadily rising.

Last year saw the highest average rate of misery since the 1990s under George Bush Sr.

But President Obama, not to mention the 13.9million unemployed Americans, may be heartened to know it's not all bad news.

He said: 'The good news is that other measures suggest conditions aren't quite that bad and over the next 18 months the gloom should lift a little.

The bad news is that households won't be in the mood to boost their spending significantly for several more years.'

The index was first compiled by economist Arthur Okun during the soaring inflation days of the 1970s."

Way to end your sentence with a preposition, noob. Did you mean to say "with whom I'm talking about..." Suuure you did.

[Edited on November 4, 2012 at 3:16 PM. Reason : Also, sentences start with capital letters.]

Here is what you said:

Quote :
"His misery index rating is comparable to Carter's"

First, your link doesn't mention Carter at all. I can't imagine this is a surprise to someone of your intellectual standing, since Reagan was president 28 years before the article was written.

Second, Carter's misery index varied from a low of 12.60 to a high of 21.98 a few months before the 1980 election. Obama's misery index reached a high of 12.97 over a year ago. It currently sits at 9.79.

Obama's and Carter's misery index ratings are not comparable.

He's basically reiterating his 47% sentiments, and subtly implying that the issues facing poor people in particular (opportunity, education, healthcare) aren't "real" issues. Wow.

I always perceived Romney as a secret moderate, now Im thinking he's just the scumbag that video made him out to be.

Is he claiming Obamacare gives free health care to people who are below a certain income? Because that is literally just flatly false. The best it does is exempt them from the mandate. So they still have no healthcare, and are still poor, they just don't get an extra hit in their taxes for it.

Well it does expand Medicaid eligibility, but that's only for states that accept it. Even if they do, someone who makes ~25k still won't be eligible unless they are the only income source in a family of 3+.
