The movie came out over a year ago. You've had plenty of time to watch it.

Motherfucker, people don't have a deadline to see a fucking movie. I'm not sitting by the phone waiting to be alerted when a sequel drops so I can watch it as soon as humanly possible.

Motherfucker, people don't have a deadline on when they are allowed to talk about movies that have been out for a year either. This is a damn horror movie thread. If a movie has been out for a reasonable amount of time and people are talking about it, I'm not gonna gonna censor myself because someone out there has been meaning to see it but hasn't gotten to it yet.

How hard is it to type fucking "(spoiler alert)" in the middle of the sentence before you spoil the fucking movie?

It's not a spoiler.

[spoiler]

The main guy doesn't die in Creep 2; the coda has him tracking down the victim and filming her

Also - anyone else like Dark Was The Night?

I'm more of a psycho thriller type, though. monsters typically dont bother/interest me.

That movie was a big old pile of blah.

New Pet Sematary appears promising based on reviews and trailers. Can't be worse than the 1989 version.

Critters: A New Binge comes out on Shudder today. Not really a movie, an 8 part series w/ 10 min episodes. Excited for some cheesy low budget horror!

I rescind my earlier Pet Sematary post. Based on a few reviews, it sounds like it will be less than stellar. Guess it's back to waiting on IT part 2 to come out.

I can't recall now - been so long since I've seen it probably not fair to even make that comment. Mainly just a general disappointment it wasn't as scary as the book, but that's the same for all of his movies.

When did you read Pet Sematary? I'm reading it again for the first time in 20 years. Not nearly all that scary. More of a deep dive on death than anything else.

^ Probably about the same time you did - 20 or so years ago. Went through my King reading phase in high school. Pet Sematary probably wouldn't be as scary upon a reread a super mature grown-up person now, but I ain't never reading The Shining again bc that a few parts of that book were legit throw the book away like you're reading The NeverEnding Story scary.

^I've been wanting to go back and read a few King books, especially the Shining. It's been well over a a decade or more since my last King-read.

I recently watched Cronenberg's The Brood, and I was pleasantly surprised. I need to watch more Cronenberg, I've only seen The Fly, Naked Lunch, The DeadZone, Scanners and Rabid (I think), but there are a lot more.

I haven't seen Pearl yet, but I thought X was very good. Nice grindhouse vibe. And I was not expecting the antagonist to be who it was.

Saw Eden Lake a while back, it was very much a dread-inducing movie. The ending was .

I thought X was decent for a slasher movie. Kind of silly/over the top but it worked. I lolled when that alligator just happened to be waiting for the blond girl so he could eat her.

I had no idea Pearl was a prequel until I saw the house. I thought it was pretty dumb though. Hoping that the third one is better.

Nope was long, a bit silly and pretty boring.

Mama was long and a bit silly at times, but it was done really well and was decent.

Any Classic 80s horror movie suggestions?

^Not 80s, but I liked the movie "Hush".

I reckon that it's on netflix. You could also use one of the f2movies TLD alternates.

Or go "old school" (wasn't it new school just a while ago?) and buy the blu-ray!

I had high expectations for Nope given the director, but I was let down pretty hard. It was a big “Nope” for me.

Not a movie, but I’m re-watching The Haunting of Hill House, and that is scarier than just about anything else I’ve seen.

Looking forward to The House of Usher.

Yes, I'm also looking forward to The House of Usher.

I watched Peter Jackson's first movie, Bad Taste from 1987. He produced, directed, filmed, co-wrote and starred in it. Whoah boy. If you're looking for an over-the-top cheesy, gory, gross, silly, low-budget 80s horror movie, this is definitely one.

^^I also just started rewatching the Haunting of Hill House (will be my 3rd viewing). Love that show.

I saw the new Exorcist movie last night (Believer). It was...questionable. I'd say it is worth watching but maybe not paying to watch. My ticket was only $12 so not exactly breaking the bank. But when resurrecting such a storied horror brand I expected better. Hopefully the 2nd (of 3) will be better.

If you liked that one, check out Peter Jackson's 1992 movie Dead Alive (also known as Braindead). Apparently Jackson was all about this kind of stuff before he got big with Lord of the Rings. Dead Alive is probably the most insane horror movie I've ever seen. It has some kind of record in terms of the largest amount of fake blood/guts used in any movie. It is so ridiculous and over the top that you just can't stop laughing at some parts. It literally has a ninja priest that spouts puns when fighting zombies.

^^I haven't seen Dead Alive, but I had some friends in college who made a skate-ivdeo of them skating around campus/Raleigh and they edited it with scenes from that movie.. including what I'm guessing is the finale when he straps a lawnmower to his chest and slaughters the zombies. Jackson's second movie from '87 Meet the Feebles is supposed to be really interesting too, but apparently it's very hard to find (or was last time I looked).
